Hey everyone,

I have a question, which branch of army deals with the cyber issues. Let me be clear I am not asking about basic hacking or privacy stuff but which branch uses networking to change tide of wars or to defend country by looking into enemy plans.

My questions might not be clear cause I am unable to tell exactly what I am looking for, but it is related to networking stuff.

Thanks
Miran

.
Army not sure Air Force yes
ISI has also a wing but the focus on spying Pakistani politician

.
should be working on hacking and stuff like stuxnet etc that destroyed irans centrifuge machines

. .
Airforce?
can you elaborate which branch?

I mean in a defensive way
Its a separate branch with multiple departments
1 is assigned for Pentesting of defense infrastructure
2 is assigned to indigenous solution development
3 is assigned for offensive cyber operations

In this case 'defensive hacking' is penetration testing on your own systems/software to find exploits which you will then fix. The same process is used in offensive hacking, except in this case you're going to use the exploits you've found to deliver a payload (virus/shell code etc.) either with the intention to destroy something or to steal information depending on your objective.

There's also IT forensics which is security related as well, for example they would analyze code of a virus by first debugging/decompiling/disassembling the virus files.

They are paying very poor salaries to IS professionals
for starter they give designation Jr Researcher equivalent to Assistant director with salary package of
65k for unmarried and 90k for married so seasoned professionals are not joining and they are struggling to hire i know 1 person who cleared all the selection criteria but dint even bother to response there calls due to these poor packages

best defence is best offence
oh and if you want to be that high and mighty study what the US and Israel did , so it wont happen to your interests
what about echelon and other inteligence USA collects do u really think they dont use it in industrial espionage????????

Good this issue came up what we actually need is a NSA alternate here in Pakistan. From monitoring social media to phone calls to street cameras to launching cyber war and attacks. We need a completely agency for digital work.

.
In cyber security the best defense is best defense actually ,offensive operation are complex and takes years of planing and months for successful execution .The Stuxnet attack on IRAN initially planned in 2008 under Bush administration and executed in 2013 by Obama administration now you know how complex this is even USA and Isreal combined force took 5 years for it successful execution. Stuxnet destroyed most alot of centrifuges for it 6-8 months of operation but was detected due to Isreli hurry in exploitation

Exactly my type, So can you name that branch?
I dont think it belongs to IT, or does it?

Yes! but does this all belong to ISI or IT branch?

It does take planning but when used, could destroy whole infrastructure.

I dont think we have enough budget for NSA in PAK, but yes that is the think we really want.

A successful cyber attack in theory can completely destroy electrical, nuclear and industrial plants,Disables missile defense systems ,aircraft, tanks, submarines ,communication lines you name it. But it all depends upon the fact that how much the country is digitized ? Americans know that the are most vulnerable to cyber attacks therefore the are using 70's era command and control centers and flopy disks to reduce the threat of cyber attack. Similarly Pakistan is using 50-60's era punch tapes to secure top secret information and for paper disposal the use a special chemical to dissolve paper instead of shreder

Army has its own Division & no its not the IT Branch or ICTOs who deal with this stuff-----
@GiG situation in Army is similar to what you have described above I would advice you guys to keep in your head that PDF or any such forum is a good source of OSINT, so beware of what you write here and share ----- so far it all looks cool but just be cautious
