CWC 2011: Quarter Finals likely scenario

pakistan has four all rounders, india has none(unless ofcourse u start counting yuvi and tendulker, bhaji and pathan as allrounders), pakistan has good bowling attack, good pace attack and good spin attack, it contributes very much to its success, pakistan has better batting attack, it oes down to number 9, where as india has batsmen upto number 7, with proper bowling attack, indian team has a very weak batting attack, example: proteas...

Pakistani all rounders, hmmm Afridi is a bowler who can hit sixes sometimes, most of the time wont cross 10 with the bat no matter what the situation is. Abdul Razzak shines maybe once every 20 matches, he is good but not among the best. Im not even sure who else you are including in the all rounder list. Pakistan has a good bowling attack for sure, but its batting just doesnt cut it, the spin attack is average. Doesnt matter if you bat till 9 if none of the batsmen are consistent. India's batting does not need to go till 9, even when its star batsmen dont perform, we still hit 260-270 odd easily. India has a weak batting line up, are you joking ? India was smoking the South African attack and only the lower order did not stand up. Dude Pakistan is a good team but dont put them better than India, you have ICC rankings to look at as well.

1) Pakistan topped the group A
2) India was second in their respective group

=======================

India has a good batting line up whereas Pakistan has a good bowling attack.
India's bowling is pathetic and so is Pakistan's batting

Both teams won 5-5 ODI matches in their last 10 head-to-head matches

Both teams are dangerous on their own days. So none of them has an edge to each other in my opinion

much better analysis, both teams are good but cant say who is better.

@zaki... if at all we face pak in this w/cup, it would be in india though. home advantage would tilt the balance in india's favour! what do you think?

why u look at icc ranking, doesnt the icc ranking makes aussies better than india ;), afridi hits for six thats right, but if he bats sensibly, he can always score like a professional batsman, afridi has been better know as a batsman than bowler in previous years, pakistan spin attack is not ordinary, afridi is a leading wicket taker in this WC, also hafeez gets wickets almost in every match, ajmal is likely to replace rehman in next match(leading wk taker in t20 world cup)... razzak is a tested batsman in this WC, he has made cruicial runs in the lower order like he made 50 against kiwis, hafeez is another allrounder who opens with the bat...

i know that pakistan batting had been little down against the first four matches, but against aussies, pakistan made some cruicial changes like playing shafiq and kamran opening, this has pretty much strengthened our opening and middle order..

the number does matter, because india will need to rethink about an extra batsman(if they have any), against aussies if u bat first u need to score such that u can defend a handsome total, and too facing a fierce pace attack....(tait, lee and jhonson), pak batting has been already tested on a good bowling pitch..

imho, a good side always includes a balanced bowling and batting set, if u r playing withour a proper bowling than you are just half as good as others..

last series between both sides suggests Pakistan plays good in Indian soil and India performed better in Pakistan. So i think home advantage would not effect Pakistan that much instead it will help Pakistan focus on its game and hopefully win the match in the end :D

Just check the results of matches between both teams held since past 10 years

I wish that was to happen

Unfortunately they will be playing against Australia

They might have to wait until India tours West Indies after couple of months of this year...

ya.. but if you talk about the world cup stats, above stats goes out of the window & there is only one way trafic!!:D

ya.. but if you talk about the world cup stats, above stats goes out of the window & there is only one way trafic!!:D

well the stats doesn't really matter... because it is how you perform on a particular date. See India has never defeated Pakistan in ICC Champions trophy so is that mean they will never defeat Pakistan in champions trophy?

Sri Lanka has never defeated Pakistan in World Cups but I am sure they are going to come hard on us if we both meet in the Finals
NZ had only defeated Pakistan for once when they first met in the world cup and lost all 6 meetings afterwards but still they managed to defeat us in this tournament.

Australians were invincible for 34 matches and finally their winning streak is also broken by the same Pakistan side.

Happens - but that does not mean anything in reality

If you are checking the overall stats of World cups, also check the overall stats of Pakistan-India matches... and not to forget the overall stats of Champions trophy and Austral-Asia Cup etc

But what if the traffic warden be an American on that day? Like they always say of others; "They drive on the wrong side of the road". And besides, records are meant to be broken.
