Curfew in Indian-held Kashmir on Independence Day | Samaa TV News Channel
SRINAGAR: Indian authorities imposed a curfew in parts of the main city of Indian-held Kashmir on Friday to prevent any move by pro-freedom groups to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The curfew in Srinagar included the closure of the city’s main mosque during Friday prayers.
Indian forces at Line of Control resorted to heavy fire and mortar shells in Poonch sector early Friday.
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world will observe the Indian Independence Day as Black Day tomorrow (Saturday) to convey the message to the international community that India had usurped their inalienable right to self-determination.
Hurriyat leaders have felicitated the people and the government of Pakistan on Independence Day and have prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the country. – Samaa/AFP
