Which is this "once upon a time"? All socities have this habit of thinking that long back their ancestors lived in an ideal age, while today everyone has lost tolerance etc. So the english speak about "fair play and OLD england" (and have been pining for the old england for hundreds of years now), and in India people think once it used to be rama rajya, but then things deteriorated and so on. In reality tolerance has improved today in most parts of the world, including india. We are far less susceptible today to religious frenzies than we were in the 1600s or 1700s or 1900s or even 1980s or 90s or 2000s. Another gujarat is not going to happen, nor is another 1984.
I hope the police come down heavily on these handful of troublemakers immediately. Whether from RSS or sikh groups, these people who instigate communal tensions should not be allowed to have their way and cause harm to other people who just want to live peacefully side by side.
