Curfew have been imposed in my hometown after violent clashes between Sikhs and Shiv sainiks in Gurdaspurs.
Several rounds were fired which lead to one dead and many seriously injured.
Awaiting more news .

This kind of brainless stuff is exactly why sometimes I think India does not deserve to prosper. Bunch of religious idiots who have nothing better to do than kill each other.

Hope the people that died belonged to the troublemakers to begin with, at least then we know that there are fewer idiots alive.

Man Curfew is the most rare condition, Even hardest one for locals , Atleast give them rights to explain theirselves in democratic manner.. Curfew in a democratic nation never been a good act..

Problem is these jobless uneducated idiots dont express themselves in democratic manner. They usually end up getting in fights nd in some cases this blows up into small case riots. Police intervention becomes necessary then.

RIP to the 18 year old, but how does that have anything with what I posted?

Thats a kind of huge problem, But if you try to stop them with curfew then it will only increase their frustration and anger.. and anger don't need any support when a person decides to achieve its goals with weapons..

@OP: There is no mention of the name of any groups (understandable). Anyways what is the reason? Does the hanging of Rajoana has to do with anything with this matter.

Thats true, its often a tough call what to do in these cases. Similar thing happened in the Gujrat riots, in the first day only some small skirmishes took place and 5 or 6 people died, and the police/Govt didnt do anything because they did not think that small fights with a few deaths were big enough to call a curfew. The uneducated Hindu/Muslim mobs took this as encouragement and next thing we know, around 1300 or so people are dead within the next few days.

In this case, Police could have waited and hoped for things to cool down by itself. But if the opposite happened, we could be looking at more unrest.

I got news from my friends / relatives in Gurdaspur.
There was a minor clash yesterday in which police registered case against Shiv sena ( punjab) members ...... Around 15 of them.
They had called a bandh today and during forcing this bandh they came face to face with a sikh group . Police interviened , one dead.

Youth killed in communal clash, curfew in Gurdaspur

A youth was killed and another person injured when police allegedly fired to disperse a group of people assembled near Ramgarhia gurdwara on Tibri road in Gurdaspur on Thursday morning. The curfew was later clamped in the town in view of the tension.

The deceased was identified as Jaspal

Singh (18) of Sidhwan Jamita village near Gurdaspur while the injured was Ranjit Singh of Pandher near Gurdaspur. He had been referred to Amritsar hospital.
The injured boy has been identified as Ranjit Singh (22). He also received a bullet injury.

Around 200 persons had gathered near the gurudwara at around 11:00am while another group had assembled near Hanuman Chowk, 300 yards from the gurudwara.

In order to prevent a clash, police went near the gurudwara and tried to disperse the group stationed there by bursting tear gas shells and firing in the air.

In the ensuing melee, one person was killed in firing, allegedly by police. Senior police officers were in the town to monitor the situation.

However the District Administration is not confirming that the youth died because of police firing and claimed that investigations were on in this.

Talking to HT, Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Mohinder Singh Kainth said, “Curfew has been imposed in the city and situation was under control. We are appealing to the people in city to maintain peace.”

One boy has died and one has been injured in the clash. We are verifying that with whose bullet the boy died, said DC.

Gurdaspur is my hometown too.

I can bet its all due to Shiv Sainiks. They are a bunch of losers really. RSS, Shiv Sainiks, etc should be tried and punished for meddling with internal affairs of Punjab where they have no say, and no right to say either.

Take care, stay safe. Keep us posted.
Hope things stabilize soon.
