CTD kills five terrorists in security operation near Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday killed five terrorists during a search operation after both sides exchanged fire.

CTD said a security operation had been conducted at the Shagai area after information was received about the militants' whereabouts.

Explosive material and weapons were recovered from militants. Three suicide vests, two pistols, two hand grenades and three SMGs were recovered.

The terrorists had arrived in the area from the Millagori district. IG Sanaullah Abbasi said police will continue to conduct operations against militants.

The real danger of PTM is not that it can become a huge legitimate political force in the near term but the poisonous crap (separatist, ethnic divisions, etc.) that it is brainwashing scores of frustrated lower income Pashtuns with. It is weaponizing their poverty and resentment toward those who have more (essentially a socio-economic issue and more to do with access to justice and other issues across Pakistan's history) using ethnic and sectarian ruses. It's very clever. And I hope we have a plan to counter it (probably not.)
