If this sense of solidarity that you talk about is so real, then how is it that an overwhelming majority of victims of terror attacks perpetrated by Islamic fundamentalists are fellow Muslims? And why is it that out of the 170 million Muslims in India, only a handful heeded the call to fight for IS?

The answer is simply this - there are as many divisions of belief and self-interest among Muslims as there is among any other heterogeneous group in the world. Imagining a monolithic solidarity may help boost your own self-confidence, but it is as illusory as the confidence gained from snorting cocaine.

Actually reality is more insidious than simpletons like Desert Fighter imagine. Pan-Islamic solidarity is as much a tool for exploitation as any other. If Muslims are all equal and well-disposed towards each other, there would be no Palestine problem. Didn't the rest of India absorb the Pundits from the Valley? Why don't Arab countries simply absorb the few million Palestinians?

And while they are at it, they could also consider giving citizenship in GCC to fellow Muslims from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh who work there. But that won't happen, will it?
