Counter Indian military spending, Pakistan urged

.
Pakistan happens to have its fair share of jingoistic newspapers too.....while here we are fully focused on our economic condition all they notice are three routine missile tests....a very discouraging state of affairs.....:frown:

.
It should be taken as an opinion by GOP and nothing more .... it isnt good that a leading newspaper makes such heavy duty mistakes (F-19)

.
'We conducted our last missile test about three years ago. Where have our defence scientists and missile technology experts gone since then?'

May 2010 we test fired two missiles.

Counter Indian military spending, Pakistan urged
2010-09-07 19:20:00

The Pakistan government was Tuesday urged by a leading newspaper to spend more on military needs so as to counter what it said was an Indian challenge.

Saying that 'enemy India' had conducted three missile tests this year, the latest being the supersonic BrahMos, the Nawa-i-Waqt complained that Pakistan had not done any test in the last three years.

'We seem to have neglected our defence scientists and for the last three years, our government seems to have been oblivious to the country's defence needs. There is no attention to national security,' an editorial in the Urdu daily said.

'We conducted our last missile test about three years ago. Where have our defence scientists and missile technology experts gone since then?'

The daily accused India of making huge arms purchases from the US, Russia and other countries.

'Pakistan was content with the three F-16s it received from the US, while the US offered the more advanced F-19 to India,' it noted.

'Feeling secure with our nuclear arsenal, we have been neglecting other weapons for the last three years while we need to keep some kind of parity with India,' it said.

Citing BrahMos, the daily said the cruise missile, with a range of 290 km, could travel at thrice the speed of sound.

'They should strive to find something to tackle this threat and India's fighter planes,' it said.

The country is in a crisis and this idiot wants more defence spending. Someone has been idolising Kim Jong Il :disagree:

And no mention of the Taliban at all when talking of national security. Just India. Shows his mentality, and also his knowledge of the threats Pak faces.

And yeah, i recently F-19 was chosen as the winner of MRCA. [F-19 seems to be a hybrid between F-16 and F-22. (16+22)/2 = 19 :azn:]

The best post of the day...

. . .
INDIA SPEND 2.5% OF IT'S GDP FOR DEFENCE.IN THAT MOST OF THE SPENDING GO FOR SALARY AND TRAINING OF SOLDIERS.
PAKISTAN SPEND 3% OF IT'S GDP FOR DEFENCE.

INDIA:-32-36 bn$
PAKISTAN:-4-5 bn$ + USA ALWAYS GIVE PAKISTAN ARMS AND MONEY TO "COUNTER TERRORISTS."

BESIDES INDIA HAS A VAST TERRAIN TO DEFEND UNLIKE PAK.SO WE NEED TO HAVE A GOOD SPENDING ON DEFENCE.

so what do we do..go on a shopping spree??? Serious defence is not planned by countering spending dollar for dollar..if enemy is buying jets we should look into new age air defence systems. If enemy is buying new tanks we should look into appropiate ATGM. There is a logic of neutralizing the threat before sending your men in the ground for most effiencient execution of war doctrine.

Do we realize that taliban, TTP and home grown terrorism are fall out of our india centric defence. An era when any madrassa preaching jihad was appealing due to hatred of India?? Now this hatred is disintegrating us from inside without indians firing a shot..they must be having a good laugh at this..one that digs a hole for other falls in himself..that perfectly suits us.

Unfortunately most in Pakistan are fanatics and their power stems from misleading the mass against India. Quite similar to our politicians for whom Kashmir issue and more of defence spending means exponential swelling of their swiss bank accounts.Hope people in Pakistan realize that India is not their enemy. A strong and prosperous and educated Pakistan without prejudice is in India's interest.

.
We can forgo India status as enemy because both nations have full diplomatic ties as per UN convention however it cannot be ignored as a formidable adversary. And countering that requires brilliant minds, economic policy, human talent development and forigen policy. Not some jahel madrassa PhD armed with AK47 and bomb making skills.

Think of Pakistan as Israel and India has an alliance of neighbouring arab states and the picture becomes very clear.

providing a reality check on the shaky economic situation, Pakistan Finance Minister Dr. Hafeez Sheikh has said that the country is on the verge of a 'complete economic breakdown'.

just grabbed the above post from a parallel thread.. here we got a newspaper persuading it's govt to spend more money. classic quote from Z A Bhutto comes to mind.. 'that we'll eat grass, but we'll make a nuclear bomb' !!

So why does this classic saying is not right? Pakistan couldn't had any worse enemy than it has.. we have to keep enough arsenal to keep this enemy at bay. Recall 65, 71, 1998, 2001, and 2008. If you think we shouldn't prepare for our defense and security, you will be such an Indian.

Its not right because one nukes can never be used other than a cold threat, two we are not persuing much achievements in the field of nuclear science versus indians and third the nukes have rapidly fueled home grown terrorism by boosting the number of anti-india jehadis

^^F-19 is supposed to be F-117 ..isn't it..?? Maybe some american posters will reply better.

Does the F-19 exist in reality? I really don't know. But looking at my keyboard, i can't but help in noticing how suspiciously close the #9 key is to the #8 key; And i'll be darned... both are not too far away from the delete key!
