Coronavirus: ‘Why has Modi done this?’

Don't worry, Hindu extremist PM Narendra Modi will send specialised emergency aeroplanes to shift all these people from one state to another.

I just for the sake of curiousity and to kill time clicked on this thread. Didn't read a word of OP. But the picture got my attention.

A labour guy with a smartphone and two kids of the similar age.

Why did the guy went for 2 kids instead of 1 or no kids for the time being when he is already not financially stable?

Why buy a smartphone and not some dirt cheap second hand bike?

A. He has not received any education to understand your logic.
B. Smart phone is cheaper than bike and only piece of entertainment and connectivity for him an his family. Many places in India has free wifi from where he would download movies and his whole family get entertainment.
C. Having 2 kids means when they grow up he will have four hands to earn money for him. Now he can bring in income from 2 hands when his kids grow up they will bring income of 4 hands.

All great points.

Plus in India under Modi, we truly to a large extent have become a digital economy.

The phone is something every class uses very extensively in daily life.

Banking. Paying bills. Purchases. Storing official government identity documents.

All of the above are what my maids use daily.

So are you suggesting that because he left it late, we should have delayed the lockdown?

How many days?

A week?

Don't dare to talk logic... understand their situation... can't blame the master for Chinese wuhan virus... so let QUESTION the number (India Only)...

If my analysis is correct... be ready to be at home till May...

Apparently, many people in this region be them educated/semi educated or illiterate do not understand this logic. Hence the overpopulation.

Some smartphones are cheaper than bikes and some are more expensive. In some cases all you have to do is save few thousands more to get a second hand bike. Mobile phones basic purpose is connectivity not entertainment.

C. Having 2 kids means when they grow up he will have four hands to earn money for him. Now he can bring in income from 2 hands when his kids grow up they will bring income of 4 hands.

Or may be both of his kids would turn out just like him? May be his father thought on similar lines and had many kids and here he is? Either way, for the time being, he's stuck. Not financially stable but stuck to feed for himself and his 2 kids.

Yes that is the reason and lack of education.

In India phones are much cheap and bikes are taxed and expensive reason is India wants the lower class to stay on public transportation and avoid road over crowding. Plus Indians give more importance to entertainment than mobility.

The very lower class don't think much about how they will feed but their main focus is more hands to get max minimum wage. Their hope in education and a better grab of life is least.

Well then, the man should enjoy his online entertainment, e billing, online banking, digital economy while holding 2 kids on his shoulders stuck in the middle of nowhere during lockdown.

Urban workers in India prefer not to own vehicles, its a trend in India maybe because our city traffics takes away the whole joy of riding. Even at my workplace executives living away from family or youngsters use public transport and don't own vehicle even when they can easily afford one but you will see Rs 70,000 worth iphone in their hands. In the towns and villages anyone who can afford it will usually have a bike, so its more of a urban-rural mindset divide.

Lockdown is the only bitter pill more so for poor people as of now against this monster till a credible or at least workable cure is found, the vaccine is not expected before next year. Mocking any country at this hour of human tragedy world over is not a right thing to do as each country as per its resources trying its best to at least contain this monster

Why the lock down is good for Pakistan, now virtually locked and not good for India...

Lock down is not good for Pakistan as well. In Pakistan the lockdown is not that severe as in India. The hardest lock in Pakistan is Sindh which is still less than India. I post Indian lockdown so that we all can assess the effects so that we can understand how things are going in other countries. Ful lock down will make every country suffer and it has to be partial. Where some facilities need to facilitate people or it will be a chaos and bigger problem for people. Hunger and malnutrition make your body weak and catch virus faster.

Imran khan is failed as of now to take any decision.. Looks very weak PM.

Sindh government and CM is doing better to fight against corona virus.. Even he (imran) does not know different between curfew and lockdown then nothing to say..
Are you sane? Now Sindh cm is backtracking. His earlier gimmicks of curfew are hurting him so bad. Now they are coming to a lock down. Supply Chains are OK. No Panic buying as of yet.
People are under lock down yet can go out to buy food and medicine.
This is the best stretegy of pakistan. You ask you pm to lock you up for 21 days. Hope he would provide you food and other slum dwellers earning 70 rupees a month food at their door step just like he promised to deposit 15 lakh rupees in your bank accounts.

aww he hurt you bad didnt he, wish nawaz was still the PM?
Off-course I would have liked to see Nawaz sharif in office, because he is a seasoned politcian, its easier to talk to him and I feel Delhi liked both Nawaz and bhutto because they were negotiators essentially, you can talk give and take with them, they are not some emotional fools. You can say politicians like Nawaz might be corrupt, incompetent, cunning but not dumb, unfortunately IK is, I don't say this but political commentators whisper that here in India, he isn't one of the smartest politicians.
