Over the top conspiracy theories are unhealthy. However, there is reason to believe that a particular actors in involved in a conspiracy at this point in time. Calling any story or theory simply a conspiracy theory doesn't make it false nor does it offer any argument against it btw.

Conspiracy theories - and by that I mean real theories, not conspiracy theories about every thing that goes wrong - arise out of events which are questionable, have inconsistent chain of events, are unlikely and are built on a lot of coincidences, a different ground level story from individuals who were there (such as in 9/11, 7/7, and recent christmas plane bomber) as compared to the official government story, and some others as well. It does not mean the person questioning the event is an idiot and got nothing better to do.
