Let's analyze a few statements

Who agrees that Hijab is Pakistani culture?
Should culture and religion be mixed?
If religion and culture is in conflict, do we follow religion or our age old culture?

Hi,

Both---. Arabs are a good example----they have converted to islam but kept their traditional bedouin lifestyle and laws. What people call the shariah laws are basically arab / tribal / bedouin laws, traditions and customs---most of them.

You avoid what puts you in straight conflict with your religion---from your basic fundamental belief---. That is how the world has lived in peace for most of the time----.

Hijab is not Pakistani culture...

Whats the point in having hair and putting on makeup if you're just going to cover it up??

.
Let's analyze a few statements
Who agrees that Hijab is Pakistani culture?
well hijab is not culture but Islamic dress code which most women adopted according to their culture. some women might wear it for cultural reasons more than religious in countries like Pakistan/Afghanistan. You might start doing something because you see your mother or others women in society doing it without understanding the logic behind it

Should culture and religion be mixed?
If religion and culture is in conflict, do we follow religion or our age old culture?
Not all cultural practices are good and i will personally give up any cultural thing which contradict with my Islamic beliefs. Culture is also not constant and it get evolve with time

.
16 year old university student is confused if she should wear hijab due to parental/ peer/ society pressure or should it be fear from ALLAH?
I think she should first make all the men cover their hairstyles with a pagri first

Nope never, it's arab culture
Neither does it have anything to do with Religon or culture

On a bust weekday in the city centre, many times i cannot tell if the person walking in front of me is a man or a woman,
You seriousely need to go to Specsavers for an eye check up.

.
I read the Blog post on Tribune...
Its same old story....People in our country trying to find a reason for not following age old traditons which are both from Culture and Religion...as our culture to most part is effected by Islam...
In Islam ,men and women are asked to dress differently and avoid resamblance with each other..It cant be blue jeans for all...
I dont understand why women in the west are so obsessed with men that they have lost their gender's identity..On a bust weekday in the city centre, many times i cannot tell if the person walking in front of me is a man or a woman, and it not a man in high heels, its always a woman in "manly dress"...Why get so obsessed with men that you apart from having out "Appendages@ pretty much copy us to the last details...
Islam wants to give genders seperate identities ..
Hijab does give women a sense of security.....

The Best Hijab/Nikab is men's eyes. If men are pure there is no need for these dress. A Sick person can aroused by voice of women and try to seduce/rape her (even if she is wearing gunny bag). A gentelman will not affected by bikani women.

I remember one incident, once my frnd went to naked beach (europe), his pappu went out of control and all there started laughing at him. He went there many time, now when he goes to nude beaches, his pappu don't betray him. Its all about adaptation. A sick Afghani mulla can get out of control by just listening to some women, while an european will unaffected by western dressed women.

I say it again " Best Nikab is men's eye."

You're exagerating, I can understand non-hijab-ed normal clothes but bikini even a decent gentleman would at least feel some excitement, altho control is something else

May be we should let them wear trousers and we should wear jeans. Should be different.
Women in US dont walk around with guns to feel secure. Women are secure when they think they can wear what they like.
If they can go about naked, that is because they feel the most secure without some moulvi coming to rape them.
Men and women wear same dress in arabia. Only color different ;-)

that includes head and facecovering, preIslamic pagan practice, AND NOW THEYRE ENFORCING IT ON OTHER MUSLIMS WTF saying it's farz and stuff

.
^^^Not necessarily enforced, but people are silly in confusing religion and arab culture and think they are more religous if they act in this way.

I am not sure people those advocate Hijab/Niqaab can't control Male part for their misdeeds. If covering body is good for females then why not Males should follow the same condition?? They should also enjoy black Burka above to their dress in 40-45 degree celsius in summer. I want them to see how convenient that feels.

The educated family which teaches their daughter for going out without Burka/Hijaab also does teach their son for behaving nice with girls.
My friend IF you read Quran then you will know that Allah has decided the dress code for both men and women. These are the points given by Quran
1.First of all men should keep their eys low
2.You should not wear very tight clothes(both male and female)
3. You should not wear transparent clothes(both male and female)
4.You should not expose your body especially Satar(both male and female)
Now for women Satar is decided the whole body except hands and face.but some women do also cover face. for men their are also more or less similar conditions. Men can expose face ,hands and usually arms upto elbows but this last part I mentioned is also forbidden to expose during Namaz. As far as your question is related that why men should not cover them then I will tell u that I asked the same question to my teacher of islamic studies in school and he gave me the example of Holy Prophet Muhammad(SAW) he said men are also asked to cover them. You can see that now a days some boys go to gym and exercise there and build their muscles then wear tight shirts to show off their body. This act is forbidden as Holy Prophet(PBUH) also used to do exercise but he never show off his body. But being a male dominated society we always focus on womens dress code.
The foremost duty is for men if you read the very first rule.So rules are same for both men and women more or less. There is no discrimination by Islam the discrimination comes from us bcoz we find excuses to obey commands of Allah

The article proves hard scarves are not a sign of symbol of modestly but a symbol of hypocrisy. Personally, if head scarf is worn right, it looks great and fashionable too.

But I have a first hand experience of hypocrisy that comes with head scarf and I agree with what the writer states.
One thing that every one understand is that wearing Hijab or not does not decides that the particular women is very pious or not.May be a women wearing Hijab has many other bad habits in herself. Let's take an example that you are sitting in an examination and you have to answer 5 question out of 5 you know the correct answers of 4. So you will definately lose your marks in th 5th question. The thing is very similar that if Allah asks you about namaz, zakat, hajj, toheed and hijab. and you are very good in first 4 but you have never done Hijab will it be a good thing for you or badplz think for a moment.
As the order for Hijab(Parda) is in Surat Ahzab just like there is an order for namaz in Quran. So one person obeying one order of Allah and not obeying the other does it make any sense.

.
First be a good person, Hijab and farz can come later. These days Muslims are thinking that Hijab/beard is like a certificate that they are pure like virgins:hitwall:
Nobody is saying that hijab/beared is a certificate of being most pious. As far as Farz is concerned you have to do it and you dont have any option.just tell me if your boss assigns you some work and you dont do it will it be your priority or not? so when Allah orders you something then you say the Farz is of secondary importance??
