Comparison of Asian national space programs

. .
India will surely emerge as Japan's superior till 2015, but till then none of our achievements overshadow Japan's..........
they have send numerous probes and orbiters to moon, have developed rockets capable of sending 19000kgs to LEO(which even China hasn't managed yet) and have worked on the ISS too..........
Till recently JAXA was actually 3 different agencies, out of which only one collaborated with NASA................the agencies which worked on sattelites and the current launcher H -IIB were completely independent........
But none the less , once the ISRO orbital vehicle has ascended the sky, India will be the more capable one.......

The only reason if ever India surpasses Japan in space program ,would be when Japan would lack interest in space research.

Baloney. GSLV uses Russian engines. You can't call it Indian.

The most complicated part of a heavy-lift rocket is the engine. GSLV relies on Russian engines.

The two "indigenous" Indian GSLV engine clones blew up.

The GSLV is Russian.

Martian2

India can't even produce it own "indigenous" engine

india space program?!

so what, it's just a satellite missed the orbit, but your India-Russian made rocket totally BLOWED up!!!!:lol:

Then how did it come to launch 26 foreign and 26 Indian sattelites, without a single failiure in the engine????
You obviously have no idea how a rocket's engine works and the many types that exist..............
you also probably don't know that China till now doesn't have a cryogenic engine either..........
It is developing one for long march 5, but hasn't been succesful as of yet, thus the delays in testing the rocket.........:azn:
Atleast we have tested an engine............

The only reason if ever India surpasses Japan in space program ,would be when Japan would lack interest in space research.

It is not only of Japan's lack of interest, it is also a factor of aggressiveness and national pride. China and India are aggressive and have made their programs a matter of national pride; moreover, India and China are in competition with each other while Japan is not. Competition make people do strange things

The only reason if ever India surpasses Japan in space program ,would be when Japan would lack interest in space research.
It isn't the lack of interest bro, it is the lack of the so-called "growing money" for the space program. The japanese can't commit to any ambitious projects, because they know that the growth of funds needed for these projects is not there...........
On the other hand , India commited to the GSLV project in 2006 itself, when it couldn't have afforded the expensive development, launch and construction of sattelites because it knew that funds for ISRO will only increase. Similiarly, India has commited itself to a manned mission, despite the fact that it couldn't afford one in 2005,when it was sanctioned.............
Thus the growth of resources is always a big factor in the future of any program. If growth is not there ,the goals wouldn't exceed the present ones, and there would be stagnation.........:azn:
