CM seeks bus project finalised

Yes but the only problem is, Orange Train is needed when people have clean safe drinking water, hospitals and educational facilities. When the Government cancels 600 projects that were aimed for clean drinking, education, healthcare and other social issues to fund the Orange Train, this really becomes an issue. Punjab Government canceled 38 billion rupees worth of funding for South, just to redirect the money to Orange Train, is that really justified? Have you seen how much poverty there is in South Punjab?

BRT is cheap, feasible, depends on what the cost is but seriously, in what world can a poor province like Punjab afford to spend $1.6 billion on a freaking train line when 80% of the people in Lahore don't have access to clean drinking water.

Lahore's HDI is 0.81 while Peshawar's is 0.64 - So by your logic KPK govt. should improve the score at-least to level of average HDI of Punjab before saying B of Bus.

Again, it all comes down to at what cost. This is a huge problem for our illiterate masses as they believe the Government has infinite funds, even the PML-N believes that. KPK is building BRT, which will be a fraction of the cost that Lahore spent on Metro Bus. Second, Lahore Metro Bus is riddled with corruption and cost overruns, the most expensive Metro Bus in the world. This is why the Sharif's have started barking against NAB. It all comes down to COST, and unfortunately Projects in Punjab are always expensive because of massive kickbacks.

But the Metro Projects in Punjab can be converted into Metro Trains in the Future .... as the Population will still keeps to grow that's why they build elevated track in the first place

I have no issue with investigating costs and corruption in project, It's good thing. But in Metro Bus threads your stance was that BRT is unnecessary. Why now the sudden change from BRTs are not required to just cost? Regarding BRTS by Punjab govt. yes aspect of corruption/kickbacks must be investigated and anyone involved in corruption must be punished, but it was supposed to be costlier than merely running few dozen buses on existing roads as it's long term project and cities will ripe the benefits of proper BRTS for decades.

rapid bus project is good and cheap as compared to metro jangla bus where more money wasted on bridges
RBT is a generic term bhai sahib, RBT main koe HIACE nahi chalnay chali iss main bhee metero he hay
And 1 saal ka cost overrun already add karlo

Let's see how they acquire the land, only time will tell but i hope its done in a transparent way. It's certainly going to be an issue, building right between the city as there are many well entrenched structures. I just hope the land acquisition is not riddled with corruption and kick backs like we saw in Lahore and Rawalpindi for the Metro Bus. A magic fires manages to destroy the records for Metro Bus Lahore, but does not touch anything else. Gosh, kitni corruption karay gi PML-N, billionaires say kya trillionaires bana hai/
Kiu kya qabza karna hay land par?
Please hamain muft ma zameen dedo, Khan sahib phir ronay dhonay par.

P.S: Please tell PTI government that they should also think of development outside Peshawar.

Where does that positive thing goes when PML N starts something for the people :P
We are corrupt to the core....PMLn is mother of mega corruption. But, people can not do anything where clans consist of feudal and industrialist..

One thing in this project is appreciate able that its cost is much more lower than other BRTS projects in Pakistan .. A;though he shouldn't have criticize the PMLN projects and should've only focused on criticizing their cost only ...

And here's the news and the irony is that they are taking Loan From Asian Development Bank in the NEWS it's stated that it'l be completed by Public Private Partnership :rofl:

CM chairs meeting on Peshawar Rapid Mass Transit System

Peshawar: A high level meeting of the Board of Investment & Trade (BoI&T) was held that was chaired by KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak at CM Secretariat Peshawar. The meeting after threadbare discussion, approved construction of 26km carpet highway alongside existing railway track and plying modern metro bus service on it under Peshawar Mass Transit System Corridor One from NasirPur GT Road to Hayatabad Karkhano market.

This project that will meet east west longest ends of the city will be completed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) with estimated cost of Rs.14 billion under the supervision of Mohsin Aziz, industrialist and Vice Chairman (BoI&T) wherein three local companies has already shown interest of investment in this mega project.

However it was ultimately decided that it would be advertised after preparation of PC-1 and formal approval of that board so that besides transparency and spirit of competition, maximum & large scale investment could be ensured in it.

Provincial Minister for Mines & Mineral and Focal Person for Mega Projects ZiaUllah Afridi, Vice Chairman BoI&T Mohsin Aziz, industrialist Ghulam Sarwar Mohamand, Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Pervez, SMBR Waqar Ayub, CM’s Principal Secretary Mohammad Ishfaq Khan, Secretaries of Finance, P&D, Housing, Transport, LG and other concerned departments attended the meeting. The meeting took stock of various aspects of this crucial corridor of PRMTS and necessary decisions were taken.

It was noted during comparative survey presentation of the consultant between introducing mono-train and metro bus service that the rapid train service will cost Rs.25 billion against Rapid Metro Bus of Rs.14 billion. Similarly single route fare of the train will reach to Rs.185 against the bus of Rs.29 only.

Hence the Chief Minister with consensus decision of the Board, approved the Rapid Bus Service and asked C&W and P&D departments to jointly prepare PC-1 of the project. He also directed the Secretary Transport to replace the old vegan and mini bus services with latest bus service on Chamkani to Karkhano route soon after completion of expansion of 4 lanes on each side of GT and Jamrud roads.

About the Rapid Bus Service, it was decided that the 1st Phase from Peshawar Cantt to Karkhano market will be completed in six months while the rest till Nasirpur in nine months due to traffic congestion down town the city.

It was also agreed that bus service will be launched soon after completion of the 1st phase to reduce traffic burden inside the city especially in the Cantt and Jamrud areas. However Chief Minister directed for completing both the phases within deadline of one year after start of work.

This important corridor of Rapid Metro Bus Service will have well furnished bus stops at 13 places while the journey on its east west ends could be covered in less than one hour with ease and comfort. Similarly 81 air conditioned buses would be plied on it through private company with nominal fare.

All the buses will reach its destination with full speed without any hurdle that will also reduce traffic congestions on other roads of the city. The meeting also decided to allow ambulance and fire brigade vehicles on this corridor that will travel with same speed and will exit from particular places. The carpet road of this system on completion will also give an aesthetic look that would convert many dirty places on both sides on the road into beautiful surroundings and spots.

Chief Minister made clear that this project must be launched and completed under comprehensive and visionary planning so that it could prove successful and durable in all respects and besides facilitating the local people and resolving transporting problems of the city, it could considerably add to beauty of the city.

He said that this project must be exemplary with financial and time saving aspects and its completion must be ensured in shortest possible time. He directed for accelerating work on other corridors of PRMTS as well.

Pervez Khattak further made clear that PTI-led coalition govt wanted to not only restore glory of this historical city and make it neat and clean city of flowers, gardens and parks once again but also make it center of attraction for international tourists due to its best traffic engineering system, knowledge centers and other basic civic facilities.

Look at the price of the Buses you'll get the Idea they Planned 81 buses

And yeah the Cost is 14 Billion not 2.5 billion LOL

yes if it is 14 B .. than it is alot more expensive than expected ... It is just 26 km non elevated track (which in my opinion should cost around 4-6b) and 30 buses+suppose 20 stations shouldn't go more than 4 B... So in my opinion the whole package should have stayed near to 8 and max to 10 B rupees ...

You all know nothing, and just commenting. Basically here is railway track which is not operational and this track connects peshawar, Mardan and Nowshehra and some other parts as well, Pak Railway is not using this track i didn't saw a single train on this track in 10 years. Kpk govt ask Federal for noc so kpk govt will operate a fast train betwen these places and kpk govt don't have to construct a separate track but PMLN govt is not allowing it. Now kpk govt ordered 100 buses from russia or will order for traffic issues. here in pesh, mardan, charsada 50 to 60 years old buses are operating. and kpk govt is not construction a separate line like metro they will operate these new buses on same roads so costs much less then lahore and islamabad metro.
are you serious russian buses..???
