CJP EXTENDS 3 MONTHS DEADLINE TO EVICT PAKISTAN QUARTERS RESIDENTS FOLLOWING STRONG PROTEST
KARACHI: Following strong protest, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar extended three months deadline to evict residents of Pakistan Quarters.

At least 16 people, including six police personnel, were injured as a protest by residents of Pakistan Quarters against their eviction led to clashes with the forces.
However, according to Newsone one woman died due to exhaustion created after police resorted to baton charge and water cannoning to disperse protesters.
Police on Wednesday took several residents of Pakistan Quarters into custody after they staged a protest against their eviction from the federal residential colonies.
The Police and the anti-riot force resorted to baton-charge, tear gas shelling and used a water cannon to disperse protesters.
Following the Supreme Court’s direction, the residents of the Pakistan Quarters in Karachi staged a protest against the operation to evict them from the federal residential colonies following.
Residents, including women and children, installed blockades at entrances of the quarters and did not allow personnel of law enforcement agencies to enter leading to clashes between them.
Sindh’s Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah issued orders as the situation worsened, to police to return from the quarters without evicting residents.
