CIA vaccination drive in Pakistan slammed by Red Cross: Will cost lives

USA is a terrorist organization , it has no regard for Red/ Blue / Purple cross

When it deems right it will murder people, and invent a law to justify it

When it will deem right it will kidnap people and then invent a law for it

When it will deem right it will hire contractors so it can't be sued legally inside USA....

USA has become a global scale bully - that can bend the laws - in order to achieve political growth of corporations in other parts of world

Due to that reason - there are people inside USA who do not trust their own government

The U.S. regards the Red Cross as inviolate. However, the Taliban and other parties in Pakistan kidnap Red Cross workers for ransom, is that not so?

The Red Cross does good work but those who know something of its history know it has had great moral faults in the past and continues to have them today. Turning a blind eye to terror group operations using the Red Cross as cover is a biggie.

The ICRC has had trouble administering vaccines in South Asia for decades. I'm not impressed by their squawking about the U.S. possibly making matters more difficult; it sounds more like some bureaucrats have gratefully seized upon it as an excuse for not meeting their goals.

Don't most Pakistanis prefer this simplistic approach rather than acknowledge their ignorance of international law? It's not like any Pakistani official is going risk himself politically by enlightening his countrymen, right?

but since Raymond Davis was caught, the US's work was unveiled hence nearly breaking the ties of US-Pakistan.

How good it would have been if we had broken ties with the US at that time itself by announcing the US ambassador in Pakistan as persona non-grata. Pakistan would had been celebrating a new independence day.

Anylaw that does not respect muslim lives is irrelevant :P

Pakistan better not release that doctor and unearth all the other doctors that were involved, surely just one dude couldn't do this.

Even if this campaign had no health and medical ill effects that doctor shouldn't be released anyways. We need to make an example out of him or else we can't guarantee the national security of this country. Releasing him would make both Pakistan and it's security establishment a joke for others. The doctor should die. And that too a painful death.

we have already seen which kind of US (LAW) in Afia Siddque case...

US destory 3 nation.... million of people died because of US ... drone strikes .... etc... seriously make me laugh when people believe on US law and the way of implementation...

real Terrorist state. .. destabilizing whole region!

Phony CIA immunisation drive: Vaccination drives under threat – The Express Tribune

The US truly has no regard for the loss of human life in Pakistan. This will claim the lives of a lot of kids in Pakistan. Pakistan better not release that doctor and unearth all the other doctors that were involved, surely just one dude couldn't do this.

That sounds familiar, if I change "doctor" to another certain name! :D

Although, I must admit, this time I would agree with you.

You know whats funny... Pakistan released the foreigner who murdered 2 Pakistani nationals (may be Pakistani military), but wont release the Pakistani doctor who helped kill the biggest known terrorist on Earth.. What irony .. hmm...

No, not funny, it is just exceedingly sad that things are like this in Pakistan, that is all. :(

So the Red Cross is at fault for being apolitical?

Solomon 2 - we are taking about lives of people here, not some geo-strategic issue.

Do you know how many children were diagnosed with polio the world over last year? less than 10

Do you know how many children were diagnosed with polio in Pakistan over last year? 144

Do you know how many of them were from Fata? 94

Do u know what the red alert for WHO is for any country? One case --- and you are considered endemic.

It's alright to sit and ponder over what the Red Cross shld and shld not have said, and abt it's apoliticalness but what teh CIA did was sheer callousness and disregard for the consequences of its action. Very belligerent.

The CIA's bad behaviour is in no way justifiable - and seeing how things are this will only feed into the propoganda of the locals here against the vaccination campaign.

What international law are you referring to?

Also if u had even bothered to read up on what the official version is you would have known that the reasons being given were different and in fact wioth pressure and the involvement of local ulema in the tribal areas which are most affected gains had been made.

Till May, only 15 cases had been recorded.

Elmo: In all fairness, the opposition to vaccination programs was already a part of the the ultra-right mullah brigade for years, so it would be unfair to solely blame the mis-step by CIA in using a health program for its purposes.

One person's bad behaviour does not justify another's bad behaviour.

VCheng every single step counts and we are talking about OBL here.

Even if the CIA had conducted such a campaign it could've made extra efforts to ensure that nobody got wind of it.

For the last 3 years, up to 60 per cent of children in at least three tribal agencies have been outside the immunisation vaccination coverage.

Do we not think before we talk - can they not think before they act?

Or is it a bit too much to ask for?

I agree with you that the damage done by this stupid act by the CIA will be capitalized and will hurt innocent lives. It should be condemned for sure.

The Red Cross is not as apolitical as you seem to think it is. It allows terrorists to use Red Cross-marked ambulances as transport and denies Israel full membership and rights on political grounds.

Non sequitur. These numbers do not make sense.

The U.S. is indeed engaged in a conflict recognized by international law, but not with the Red Cross.
The CIA's bad behaviour is in no way justifiable -
Sure, the terrorism of Al Qaeda doesn't justify anybody picking up a stick in self-defense, does it?

The important questions are (1) if this was a phony vaccination drive as opposed to a real one endorsed by the Red Cross that the CIA piggybacked upon, and (2), if it was phony, was it pretending to be under the auspices of the Red Cross by displaying its symbols? If so, then I think this is a prosecutable offense under U.S. law, those convicted paying a fine or serving up to six months' imprisonment.
