What's new

Chinese ships in disputed waters after Japan's prime minister Shinzo Abe sends offering to Yasukuni

No, it wouldn't. Right now, China is a global power with a lot of new toys. They want to try them out. They want to push their neighbhors around. That's what's really happening. The rest of it, likeJapanese PM's tribute to fallen soldiers or India's new "assertive" policy and all the other real or perceived slights to China, are just excuses.

As a Chinese person, I can tell you the anger felt towards the shrine visits is more than just a show.

I have no doubt that your feelings and the feelings of millions of Chinese regarding this shrine is genuine. However, like I mentioned in my original post, these are really just excuses for the Chinese armed forces to take their new toys for a spin. I mean what good could possibly come of sending ships into Japan's territorial waters(disputed or not is a different matter)? What is the message? "We'll attack you if you send another plant to this shrine"?
