Chinese Martial Arts

Agree about Taekwondo, it's mainly kicking but lacks power,...
Then you know nothing about TKD.

...but still a useful technique to learn. Here a Taekwondo master gets schooled by a real monk..
Are you for real? I watched the whole thing. How did the monk 'schooled' the TKD stylist? The monk's kicks were just as fanciful and high as the TKD stylist's. The monk was no faster nor quicker nor more accurate.

seriously, i'm talking about 99% of people. among the top 1% elite martial artists and athletes, yes, training is critically important. among 99% of people on the street, they are not well trained enough for their techniques to matter against a much stronger opponent. maybe the small guy was one of those elite trained martial artists, and the big guy was part of the 99%.

this is just from experience, because i have 4 years of training in taekwondo which is utterly useless for defense purposes... only useful as an exercise. Taekwondo is the most useless martial arts in the world for defense as it is too limited to unstable stances (KICKING), and not as good as Tai Chi for exercise

I diagree with you dude. It is not the style, but how one utilizes it.

Example: Small korean professor kicks the *** of two beefy muscular Americans.

It became very big in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Here is a well trained Afghan in Chinese martial arts.

Seriously that kick was brain damaging.

Again!

Almost as tough as Bruce Lee.

Then those four years are wasted upon you. I am a Tae-kwon do stylist in the old Chon-ji school. A black belt if that matter to anyone. Any martial art can become worthless if the practitioner does not exercise common sense as much as he/she exercise his movements.
So you got a belt from a McDojo? You forgot to mention your 5th dan black belt in Bullshido.

Problem with most Chinese martial art style is they favour style over substance, turning themselves into acrobatics rather than fighting systems. While they are certainly great as a form of exercise, their use is limited in an actual fight. Sanshou is the only one I can reasonably recommend if any of you want to train in Chinese martial arts, since it combines kickboxing with throws.

IMO, six months of regular training in muay thai, freestyle wrestling and some BJJ will make you very competent in hand to hand combat, better than any Chinese martial arts (Sanshou included).

Try Krav maga, if interested. Its the most useful out there.
Still a bit too esoteric. The best combination of the martial arts for anyone wishing to learn self defense is boxing and karate, particularly Shotokan karate. Boxing teaches a person, man or woman, how to use the fists and arms hands down better than any martial arts and in the shortest time. Shotokan karate teaches a person, man or woman, how to best use the legs for the waist and below in the shortest time. Any kicking higher than the waist, and am speaking as a TKD stylist, increases the risk of being off balance and lose the fight. Against a Golden Glove caliber boxer, a 'black belt' of any Asian martial arts style has at best a 50/50 chance of a tie, not a victory.

Being a military man I am astonished that you don't consider Judo important.

Heard that Judo is a watered down version of Jujitsu adapted for sport and therefore loses some of the more lethal/potent moves.( I'm not disrespecting the art btw)

You must be blind if you can't tell who is faster and attack most effortlessly, also have you watch the second video, that monk is just that fast, he could tear that taekwondo master apart if they fought for real.

There's already one Chinese fighter who's doing extremely well in the MMA, he's Zhang Tie Quan, one of the top MMA fighters in action: This is his match vs Jason Reinhardt

I think any martial arts that's good enough for the military is useful.

I think SAMBO, as a martial arts invented through pure science, should be the best of all.
