Chinese, Indian troops in stand-off at Ladakh

Your predicament is understandable, being a Chinese, you only get to know, what your state wants you too know.

But here in India, we have free media,( not even a pigeon can fly in without it being reported), perhaps too free at times, but then, that's price you have to pay, so as not be a "state's bot".
Is that the reason why NDTV is declared anti National and banned in India

Atleast see what it says, its being taken of air for a day for revelaing the location of ammunition and location of planes while the operation was going on.isnt that fair enough.you can check examples in our neighbourhood and you can see how free the media is in India.

It is a stand-off.

Not a terrorist attack.

Big difference.

I wish it is banned but that is not constitutionally allowed.

It was only barred for a day, for disclosing confidential information on troop arrangements.

Thats better so we both agree china was not fighting both the super powers in 62

You can say that when you see US troops stationed in India, you may not know what is lemoa its an agreement to use each others facilities for refueling repairs etc and i am sure when your ships travel to friendly countries are they selling out their sovereignty to china.

We are banking on usa helping us during any conflict it at all one happens with china,India is too big a country, china had easy in 62 because of the neglect on defence by nehru from independence and thanks to 62 India started to build its military and is in much better postion to defend itself, china knows it with incidents which happened in 67 and 84.

We wont fight china for USA,you both have to sort it out yourself in SCS,i am sure china dsnt want a hostile India when that happens.

That too has been done in the 60s... CIA was flying U-2s to spy on china from indian bases.

Hyderabad: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Friday met his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi here to discuss measures to improve bilateral ties strained by differences over a host of issues, including Beijing blocking India's NSG bid and a UN ban on JeM chief Masood Azhar.

The meeting at the Taj Falaknuma Palace comes two days after Chinese and Indian troops were locked in a stand-off at the icy heights of Ladakh division after People's Liberation Army (PLA) personnel entered an area where an irrigation canal was being built under the MNREGA scheme and stopped civilian work.

Both sides decided to hold this meeting days before the incident in Demchok sector, located 250 km east of Leh, where the work for linking a village with 'Hot Spring' was being undertaken under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).

There was no official word on the meeting.

Doval and Yang who are the designated Special Representatives of the India-China boundary talks, also periodically meet to discuss the whole gamut of the Sino-Indian relations.

India should not escalate the situation but definitely stand its ground and retaliate with great force if China tries to bully further. They should understand that India is not dependant on them and will give them a blow to remember for ages.

Obviously not in 1962, but during the Cold War we fought directly against the US + 16 of her allies combined (Korean War in 1950) then in the Sino-Soviet clashes which lasted all through the 1960's and led to direct fighting in 1969.

India could have been an independent country but they preferred to sell out their sovereignty to the USA by signing the LEMOA, just the same as before:

India pleaded for US help against China in 1962 - Times of India

Vassal states get thrown to the bin by the USA, they wouldn't even honor their "mutual defence treaty" with the Philippines while we were seizing their territory in 2012. You are on a much lower level for them.

Its logistic and fueling agreement . United States Military can come to Indian bases and Indian Military can come to United States bases.

you can see how free the media is in India.

“The Indian army and the administration took a firm stand and resisted the PLA’s move of stalling the developmental work... It is our territory and basic amenities have to be provided to the villagers. The work is going on unhindered. The issue stands resolved and there is no face-off,” the source said.

The construction is being done under the Border Area Development Project.

“There is an understanding between the two countries that no big works, especially with regards to improving defences, shall be taken up on either side of the Line of Actual Control, but minor works aimed at ameliorating socio-economic condition of villagers could be taken up,” the source said, adding that the government has been focusing on developmental projects in border areas off late.

A defence source also confirmed the resolution of the matter, and said the 50 PLA troopers, who had been protesting at the site on Wednesday, retreated by Thursday morning.

“The hot spring and the channel being constructed by us fall within Indian territory, but the area is close to the LAC,” said an official, adding, “The PLA is in the habit of raising objections to every development work being carried out for villagers.”

Chinese troops had earlier protested against the channel construction on two occasions -- on March 26 and April 14 -- resulting in the work being temporarily suspended.

These frequent objections have led to locals in Demchok demanding resettlement while the Indian government attempts to improve amenities in the area.

    NOT THE FIRST TIME
There have been several instances of stand offs between Indian and Chinese troops in the past decade.
    • April 14 and March 26, 2016: Construction of water channel in Demchok area suspended after Chinese troops object to it

    • March 16: Indian Army asks Leh administration to stop road construction in Chumar area along the Line of Actual Control following objections from Chinese army

    • June 2015: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police — first line of defence along LAC — seeks deployment of additional 6,000 personnel, apparently to check transgressions by Chinese army

    • August 2011: Chinese troops enter Indian territory, destroy several unused bunkers in Chumar area of Leh

Kudos to Indian army, showed China not to mess with us. We're not other neighbours who are dependant on their measly hand outs and wont be bullied either. Proud of IA!

Construction work begins, Chinese army return. We believe in getting stuff without killing preferably. I know propoganda you are fed with terms India as an aggressor, but India has always been a peaceful nation always and we resort to less violent option to get things resolved. Unfortunately the same courtesy isnt being reciprocated in the western border.
