Again, I am not saying Japan is not a strong team, I am saying they didn't win or even dominate said sport regional level. FIFA ranking is actually BS, do you really believe US is rank 10 and Mexico is ranked 11 when they win absolutely nothing in any international level nor have any player in any calibre that we know// FIFA ranking is not really reflecting actual strength in that sport because it counted the play locally.Japan is pound for pound the best Asian football team in Asia right now, at Fifa ranking no. 20.
Their national league teams just beats the Scottish Celtic and French PSG.
They also have the most win in AFC cups, at 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2011 and runner-up in 2019.
I'd say they "dominate" Asia right now, along with S. Korea, being the only 2 teams to even get to group 16 in the WC recently in the last 10 years, except Japan did it much more consistently.
For football, Japan is absolutely a goal to study from, and proves that physiques don't matter that much since japanese footballers are smaller in physiques compared to even chinese and korean.
To say Japanese football is all we hope because of its FIFA ranking then you could probably better say Mexico football is what Asian should be looking
