What is the current state of Chinese helicopter engine production?

From 20:15, An interview of a U.S. general, predicts a “helicopter army” will lead a surprise/fast invasion of Taiwan.

If China produces 1000 Z-8L (assuming 25 troops a 2 door gunners) a year and 200 Z-10ME in a year, over the course of the next ten years (by the 2035 goal of modernization), the PLA could field a force that could lift up to 250,000 in the first wave, and protect them with 2000 attack helicopters. This would be the spearhead of an invasion force that would also be by sea.

If China develops a significantly sized “Helicopter Army”, it would also have considerable expeditionary capabilities vis a vi India on the LAC, be on standby for a North Korea or Central Asia contingency, or it’s ability to support UN Peacekeeping operations as well as better protection of its workers and infrastructure investment overseas.


Could China produce this many engines in the coming years?

Last week we saw the first image of the new engine testbed based on the Y-20A, but as it seems (if this image is a recent one) the good old Il-76SK (?) is still active. But does anyone have an idea what engine this is, it looks wider than the original D-30KPs but not like a WS-20?

Yes, he’s a broken record. In this video though is the interview with the retired Air Force general. He understands the utility of helicopters over landing craft in such a dilemma. But it seems Choi’s has neither the will (probably due to cost) nor the capacity to build some many helicopters, so at best the helicopter force will be a small part of a beach landing and not a large nearly independent spearhead.

WS-21 is supposedly a variant of the WS-13. Though there must be enough changes to warrant a different type name -- when the WS-10 series had gone through tremendous changes in its variants without any of them be given a new type moniker.

WS-21 should be thought of in the same vein as the WS-10C is for the J-20. It is an interim engine.

WS-19 is the intended medium engine designed from the ground up for FC-31/J-35/JF-17.

Tech level would mean the WS-21 incorporates the latest WS-10 tech while WS-19 would be WS-15 's and even more. WS-19 is not finalized. Advancements even beyond the WS-15 can still be incorporated.

I hear somewhere saying that WS-21 only have 3 Fan/low-pressure compressor instead of 4 fan like RD-93. the high -pressure compressor blades are sharp differently from RD-93. in terms of thrust to weight ratio WS-21 is between ws-13(RD-93/3th gen) and ws-19(4th gen).

I start a thread on Chinese Jet Engine, which is on the eve of overtaking US. Lets start with WS-15. The WS-15 is now on mass production.

The widely circulated non official specs in the internet is 181.3 KN thrust with after burner. lifetime Endurance 4000 hours of flight.
