US always overstated their capabilities. Like the recent submariner incident. Bragging how advance their nuclear sub which crashed, unwilling to reveal more info.

More something is used. Higher the probability for failure. It gets as simple as that. So you're saying that if the Chinese Navy runs into problems...that's ok but if the USN runs into problem it basically makes them less capable?
US doesn't "overstate". You see, that's the problem with Asians.....they see things differently....because of how they're raised up....
The US doesn't hide (for the most part) what it doesn't have to hide. Asians tend to hide everything, even the slightest non consequential details.
Just because your Navy doesn't do PR every month doesn't mean every Navy shouldn't. There's a difference between "overstating" (what the Russians usually do) and showing their capabilities/posting it into the public domain (what the US does)
