What's new

China's huge new crew-launching moon rocket could fly for 1st time in 2027, flying astronauts to the moon

Never thought the Americans would be so insecure about China’s space program. It shows China is on the right track.

China has now fully caught up to the US in Mars exploration achievements by landing rover on Mars.

In terms of Moon exploration, China is behind only in landing humans on Moon. Once the Long March 9 rocket is ready, then China will be equal to the US in Moon exploration achievements too.

In terms of space station, China has now fully caught up to the US.

China absolutely hasn’t caught up to US exploration of Mars. The US has landed multiple landers and rovers on Mars. Perseverance being over 4x the size of Chinas rover and far more advanced . The Ingenuity helicopter has over 30 flights now on Mars.

Landing a single rover means nothing relative to NASAs overall Mars achievements.

The US is moving to commercial space stations in the next couple years. The US has been working on space stations for 45+ years now.

. .
China will be the first country to establish a permanent base on the moon.
Yes! It will be staffed by Uighurs volunteers! They would rather stay on the moon than in their vacation education camps....

.
The SLS after used up all RS-25 engine is going to be put out of service. NASA already confirmed they cant produce more RS-25 engine. So?
nonsense, NASA has ordered 24 new RS-25 engines six of which will be delivered in 2023.

LOL!! You are leaving out a lot by the US (and a lot of these are not just firsts but onlys as nobody has been able to duplicate them even decades later).

First to "touch" the Sun
First to put a satellite in orbit around Mercury
First to reach Venus
First to reach Mars.
First to put a satellite in orbit around another planet (Mars).
First pictures from the surface of Mars
First to put a rover on another planet (Mars)
First to reach Jupiter
First to put a satellite in orbit around Jupiter
First to reach Saturn
First to reach Uranus
First to reach Neptune
First to reach Pluto
First to orbit and land on an asteroid
First to send spacecraft outside the Solar System (currently 2 still functioning after 45 years and 24,000,000,000+ km away)
First to visit a dwarf planet

(Keep in mind this extensive list is only of "firsts" and it is not all the missions we have sent to other planets that were simply not considered firsts so they aren't even listed here)

First to put a satellite in geosynchronous orbit.
First to use solar panels on a satellite.
First to use nuclear power on a satellite.
Numerous first types of satellites (weather, navigation, communication, etc)

I won't even go into all the firsts in manned stuff as the US has launched over 900 passengers into space using 5 different spacecraft including the first reusable spaceplane (that would land only a few miles from where it was launched) and all the crazy firsts that goes with it (robotic arms, cargo bay, science station module, untethered jetpacks, satellite recoveries, etc). Hubble telescope

This is straight out of SciFi.

The first country to reach Venus

I won't even go into all the manned stuff like building a reusable spaceplane and all the firsts that goes with it.
you forgot the first country to touch the sun.
the Chinese need another 100 years to "catch up" to NASA's accomplishments so far.

LOL! At your faulty logic..the US you can easily give 2 but China for some reason can only have 1 instead of 3.

By the time the US launched it's first rocket, there was only one precedent(Germany),by the time the US launched it's first satellite, there was also only one precedent(Soviet)

Where as by the China launched it's first rocket/satellite/manned mission, there were two precedents have all of it(US,Russia),so china only need to choose one of those countries

So how are these two the only precedents that matter?

You could just as well claim everything is from the first V2 launch from Germany and nothing else really matters

China WILL be the first country to establish a permanent base on the Moon.

US is on pace to put humans back on the Moon in 3-4 years.

China will be fortunate to land humans on the Moon by the early 2030s. We’re talking mid to late 30s at the earliest before China can even begin to build a base on the Moon.

China is WAY behind the US in heavy lift and reusable rockets.

China has been to one planet

The US has been to all of them

...I'm sure with a caveat like the first country to establish a permanent base on stilts.
I still remember y'all bragging about being the first country to achieve sample return from Ōceanus procellārum ..... first country to land a rover on Mars in the first attempt..

..first country to centipede walk on the moon...I'm sure China will find a first of something..even if it's an irrelevant first.

Yes, after that they are going to shut down these dinosaur. RS-25 engine is not in their long term plan due to its extreme cost., USD 100 million per engine which is one time used?

That is why SLS as its launch is already obsolete.

I don't know why Americans get so upset to the point that they had to jump in and trash this thread from #3, China just develops herself and plans a have a manned mission on the moon in couples of years, it's got nothing to do with US. China had already made leaps and bounds in space exploration in recent year, there's nothing US can do to stop China to make leaps and bounds in the future, Americans trash talking never stopped China's growth in the past, and wont' stop China in the future.

Jealousy, space exploration is US property, didnt their congressman one time claimed that US owns space and universe indeed.
