Public transport sectors are all owned by the government, so your question is meaningless, I, as a Chinese , will definitely prefer home made planes than foriegn's, but that only represents myself, which in turn, is also meaningless.

I am talking about Chinese company. They can't use it internationally without FAA and EASA certification anyway. (Which also eat into Chinese Airline flying EU and US route)

If you are, say China Southern CEO, would you buy this aircraft, knowing this has different maintenance standard than you other Boeing and Airbus and don't know how well this aircraft will perform both performance wise and safety wise, for a discount of 6 million dollars per??

China Southern CEO will go by China's own airworthiness certificate.

Most airlines in China are at least partially state-owned and they will follow govt. directives.

No need to split hairs with arguments.

COMAC has assured market inside China. End of story.

Already COMAC ARJ-21 regional jet has been in use for over a decade successfully. ARJ-21 was inducted into China Southern Fleet two years ago. And other carriers too.

Their local demand is large enough. Domestic civil aviation sector in China is huge. They don't have to market it outside China even.

Again, the question is, would you buy that with little to no financial incentive.

The different between Boeing 737 MAX and C919 is. Boeing have 60 years of experience of making aircraft, they can bounce back on the 737 MAX debacle. C919 is a brand-new plane, again, you are literally paying for the same amount (6 million list price different per airframe) Does that warrant that gamble just to save 6 million per airframe?
Government doesn't have to force anything. If anything, it'll be the Chinese public that will force the airlines to switch with nationalistic sentiment. The airlines that don't fly c919 will be named and shamed.

Not many takers of their aircraft outside of Russia, so expect the Chinese aircraft to be a tough sell outside of China, at least for the short term. It has to prove its worth and feedback from Chinese airliners to improve and refine the aircraft.

And China would not focus on price, but the meeting the expectations of the airlines reducing their operating costs and therefore increasing profitability.

Finally, it will be interesting how the 929 will perform when it's built -- jointly with Russia. This is a wide-bodied aircraft.

They don't give a shit about outside buyers,China need 8700 planes in next 20 years ,worth 1.8 trillion USD.
If China can manage a significant portion of their massive local market ,it should place Chinese planes in same lvl of international acceptability as Chinese bullet trains are. Only problem is ,West wouldn't certify Chinese planese ,to protect duopoly of boeing and airbus.
