China’s Ministry of Commerce has flatly dismissed recent allegations that China and the United States are negotiating trade and economic issues, he Yadong the ministry spokesperson, said during a press conference on April 24, 2025, that such assertions are "groundless and have no factual basis." He underlined that there had been no official discussions or agreements reached between the two nations on matters of trade.

By removing all unilateral tariffs placed on Chinese goods, He Yadong further urged the United States to pay attention to reasonable voices both at home and abroad, in contrast to forceful tactics or unilateral acts, the ministry believes that equal conversation and mutual respect are the only ways to establish a true resolution to trade issues.

China has retaliated with tariffs of up to 125% on American goods, while the Trump administration has imposed heavy taxes on Chinese imports, some of which have reached as high as 145%, This official denial comes amid ongoing tensions, Beijing has issued a fierce warning against such arrangements, saying it will take "resolute and reciprocal" steps against any accords that harm Chinese interests, even though US officials have reportedly been pressuring allies to cut trade with China in exchange for tariff relief.

Notwithstanding indications from U.S. officials that suggest a potential de-escalation or a readiness to engage in negotiations, China maintains that any discussions must take place on an equal basis free from coercion or threats, although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it is amenable to dialogue, it would not participate under pressure and has taken a strong stand against intimidation.

In conclusion, Chinese Commerce Ministry has denied reports of ongoing trade talks with the United States, stating that no discussions have taken place and stressing that the elimination of tariffs and courteous, fair communication are the only ways to resolve trade disputes, Beijing continues to stress the delicate and tight situation of international economic ties by cautioning other countries against supporting the United States in ways that are detrimental to China's interests.
