Well, the writer doesn't have a clue of China's strategic thinking and has tried to derive conclusions without any understanding of history in this regard. It seems that Indians are feeling unrealistically pumped up and they are deciphering Chinese Premier's recent visit as a new beginning under the sinfully wrongful impression that China has dumped Pakistan and allen in the untouchable feet of India like a ripened fruit; and that too under Modi regime! China will NEVER replace Pakistan with India. If Indian analysts are perceiving China's recent smileyface gesture towards India as a sign of China's educated decision to change the balance of regional alliances disproportionately favourable to India than they are living in fools paradise. Indians must keep in mind that China's strategic alliances are made on the basis of two main considerations: trade relations and geostrategic interests. Indians think that by showing expressive zeal during recent visit to India Chinese Premier has picked India by dumping 60 years long geo-strategic relations with Pakistan. Actually, Pakistan follows Chinese approach when it comes to National Security and Defence capabilities: Don't Ask Don't Tell. However, Indian camp's policy is declarative, rather somewhat exaggerative, of defence potential. The reason China can NEVER pick India over Pakistan is not only for the interest of Pakistan, its against Chinese interest as well - something Indians don't want to consider as a genuine factor in the region. If Indians are blowing over the shoulders to see Chinese Premier's willingness to open trade with India, they must also keep in mind that since its inception whole Pakistan is totally open for China to do any kind of trade or development and mega projects. China is giving defence technology to Pakistan, and has always fulfilled Pakistan's defence needs. China considers Pakistan as a big buffer zone to protect its huge borders from direct onslaught. Pakistan's Nuclear Bomb, latest fighter jets, world's best main battle tanks, Silk Route (world's highest altitude road connecting China and Pakistan by road), building and management and operations of Pakistani ports, and what not. Never in the history China and Pakistan have disclosed the depth of bilateral ties. Therefore, putting in a nutshell, what China is proposing to India is the expansion of its market economy, NOT the strategic alliance. Everyone knows that USA and China are worst enemies of each other, yet Chinese manufacturing industry and trade makes the dinner every night on every American's table possible! But in foreign policy and global strategic alliances, they are poles apart from each other. Being Pakistanis, we can't deny the significance of India and its trade potential to the rest of the world, even Pakistan is trying to tow the same line as Chinese and trying not to mix up trade with territorial disputes while reshaping relationship with India. And may be to some of the Indians' surprise, India is also insisting that Pakistan should separate trade from disputes - lets do trade right now and gradually territorial disputes will resolved as well. Having said that, my dear Indian friends, don't get excited and start putting deceptive meaning into Chineses smiles. Keep your feet on the ground and come back to the real world.
GODSPEED PAKISTAN
