As I say, the aviation industry is down. This year is projected to be negative growth. There is even no need to buy new plane. Airbus is desperate to clinch China growth. We can even wait for 2 years without getting a new plane. Can Airbus wait for 2 years?
So if there is no need to buy planes now , why would China want to buy planes it does not need?
China is at least 2 decades away from being able to manufacture it's own aeroplanes with it's own engines that are as advanced and as economical as the West and so you do not have much leverage right now.
As an example of how far behind the West that China is in engine technology, your domestic engine for the C919 is not due to be put on production aircraft till 2030 and it will be on the level as the Leap-1B that first flew on a production plane in 2017!
Maybe wait till 2040 before making threats?
