that remark about escalation by Trump if China were to lend Turkey money, in the article in the first post of this thread, could be true, if any Chinese bail-out of Turkey would end up on the front pages of US news papers. But even then, i doubt Trump would escalate against China over Turkey. He's already doing that with the entire EU over Iran, and can't be seen doing it too often. I think Trump understands and respects that.

it's a real opportunity for China, Turkey, and the wider world, for China to be able to invest in Turkey.
remember, there is a vital military link between the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea which is on Russia's border and of demonstrated political value to the Russians (invasion of Crimea to retain their century-plus old naval base there).
for that reason alone, Turkey makes a valuable investment destination for China. Plus it's one of the routes into Europe (for your modern silk road project).
