Actually Pakistan has no choice right now.

It does have leverage over China vis-a-vis India and it's strategic location.

I think we'd rather depend on and listen to a nation that helped Pakistan become a nuclear weapons state who now has the ability to produce H-bombs rather than a foreigner who also belong to a nation that is our enemy:

The relationship between Pakistan and China is too deep and powerful that a foreigner from an enemy state like you can NEVER understand or fathom.

I think ‘depressing’ does not start to define the predicament the economy is in. Sadly Asad Umar is silent on any structural reforms to revive the economy. All they want to do is seek aid from ummah and iron biradher like previous hukumats. This mentality of living on foreign aid has to come to an end for the country to progress, instead what we see are belligerent announcements on having recieved aid money from foreign countries as if its a big achievement. If taking loans is considered an achievement then full marks to IK but sadly the economy is down in the dumps and as the growth rate plumets to less than 4%, jobs creation will come to a standstill and there will be widespread disenchantment amoungs the already satya hue awaam.Apart from that the economy has also contracted by around 20-30% in dollar terms due to the currency meltdown and now stands around 230-240 billion dollars. This contraction will increase further as more devaluation takes place.The size of the economy has shrunk to the extent that its taken it back by more than a decade, and this is the biggest issue. The economy is not standing still, its contracting at a fast rate due to slow growth and extreme devaluation of the currency.

But that will take few years. And we are inspired by India which lived off on aid and crawled along like a slug - Hindoo growth rate.
