According to unconfirmed reports, there are at least two Type 092s in service (estimates range from 2 to 6).

China Defense Blog: PLAN’s Xia submarine to Pakistan??
The once slowly expanding military ties between Beijing and Islamabad have now matured into a strategic partnership, as is evident from local production of the JF-17 Thunder multirole fighter, the Al-Khalid tank, and F-22P frigates. This partnership is further evidenced by the PLAN’s regular participation in the large multinational AMAN series of exercises hosted by the Pakistan Navy. Pakistan’s strategic community and Beijing could plan the training and subsequent lease of a nuclear-powered submarine.

The PLAN’s Xia submarine could be an appropriate start. A pool of selected Pakistan Navy officers could be trained to operate an SSBN, with theoretical/academic work ashore followed by operational training at sea and finally a strategic deployment. Though such a plan seems ambitious and the PLA Navy’s SSBNs rarely prowl far, this remains a viable choice that would serve the two countries well strategically.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Saturday called for enhanced military exchanges and cooperation between China and Pakistan so as to cement the bilateral strategic partnership of cooperation.

Wen made the remarks while meeting with senior Pakistani military leaders, including Khalid Shameem Wynne, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani, chief of the Army Staff, Noman Bashir, chief of the Naval Staff, and Rao Qamar Suleman, chief of the Air Staff.

The Pakistani military is a steadfast supporter and vindicator of the China-Pakistan friendship, and has played an important role in consolidating and developing their strategic partnership of cooperation, Wen said.

He applauded the close exchanges between the two militaries in the areas of anti-terrorism and disaster relief, and hoped to further enhance the military links to contribute to the development of bilateral ties.

Calling China an all-weather strategic partner of Pakistan, the Pakistani military leaders said bilateral friendship had withstood severe challenges. The Pakistani military was ready to work jointly with China to play a positive role in developing their strategic partnership of cooperation, they added.

The Chinese premier arrived here Friday for a three-day visit.

no leasing is ever gonna happen
china had 2 xia's one of which sunk and the other spent more than half its life being refitted, other words not worth the effort to lease something that outdated and frankly dangerous, if anything lease a jin class which is far, far superior than the xia. also i get the felling that the one xia left is not really operational any more given the replacements are already there.

Lease a missile boat? No way!
No country has ever allowed another access to its ballistic missile submarines, no matter how close the relationship. An attack boat without cruise missiles is a defensive system, but a missile boat is a strategic offensive strike weapon.
Such a move would make India's already nervous military hawks even more paranoid and might result in dangerous moves on their part. A Xia boat with 12 accurate nuclear missiles would be seen as such a threat to them that they would probably over-react.
I think that the statesmen of the PRC would not risk an Indian over-reaction and enmity to allow this to happen.
This OP article is from a blog and seems to be a fanboy's imagination.

now Pakistan's defense means China's defense. sub is no longer an issue.

The early 092 model is too noisy, maybe these two are upgraded 092 model or early 094 model?

See, that's what I initially thought, too. But the Type 092 is long retired. There are also reports of other Type 092 variants that's being confused with the single reported one.

And being retired makes it perfect for leasing.

"Leasing" a Type 092 does not mean using it in combat. Leasing could simply for letting your men get experience with a SSBN (remember, India has an Arihant-class SSBN now). It also allows you to peak at the insides of a SSBN and plan your own construction.

Type 094 and Type 096 won't be lended since it is being used or procured.

These are Type 094s. The Type 092 boats are still docked at either Dalian or Qingdao.

Type 094 has three models: I model, II model, and III model. We believe these are the I models.

The late variant of type 094 can carry 16 SLBMs and type 096 is designed to carry 24 SLBMs.

But i think China can lease the primary model of type 094 to Pakistan.

What makes you think the Type 094 is the best choice?

From what we know, we only have five in service. That's barely enough to even be a credible offensive force.

Meanwhile, our Type 092s await to be disposed...or turned to SSGNs at least.

But PLAN is waiting for the more dominant type 096, so leasing two 12 SLBMs type 094 to Pakistan isn't a big problem when PLAN has already four 16 SLBMs type 094 and six 24 SLBMs type 096 in service in the near future.

However, i think CCP has more chance to lease type 093 because leasing the SSBN can cause more political sensitivity.

China will sell Pakistan missile boats

According to "17-Dec-2010"'s update of Jane's defense weekly, China to sell two 500 tons missile boats to the Pakistan navy, each armed with "with radar-controlled guns".

No Submarines, for now

Operating a SSBN requires a lot of infrastructure and financial resources. Pakistan right now doesn't have both. It would be a white elephant for PN if it has to operate Type 092 Xia class SSBN. Also, transferring SSBN with SLBM's will violate MTCR.
Its more likely that PN will go for conventional Chinese subs first or may be even a chinese Type 093 Shang class nuke attack sub SSN.

That's what i am thinking about, maybe Aegis equivalent type 052c is also more likely to be happened than type 094.

But for now, all these toys would be too much of financial burden for Pakistan to operate with.
