“前几年通往乃堆拉的道路条件很差。在国家的支持下，亚东县道路交通得到极大改善，两国商人做生意也更加便捷。”巴桑说，乃堆拉边贸通道恢复以来，印度和中国的边民都收获颇丰，“很多印度商人家里也都盖上了新房，买了好几辆车”。
临近乃堆拉山口的边贸市场海拔4000多米，面积狭小。前几年，亚东县为了便于两国边民开展贸易，在县城附近的开阔地带投资近7000万元重新修建了一个新的边贸市场。亚东县商务局副局长郭婷介绍，新市场有商铺194间，面积达13000平方米，交易货物品种有四五十种。
