'India cannot match China's military force': Indian Naval Chief - IBNLive

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sureesh Mehta has set off a storm by saying India cannot match China military force. Is it a warning from India's military that the government needs to hear?

"In military terms, both conventional and non-conventional, we neither have the capability nor the intention to match China force for force," said Admiral Sureesh Mehta.

For a nuclear-armed military representing the interests of a billion-plus people, the lack of confidence is quite striking. India's military leadership has made a stunning confession that New Delhi doesn't have the stomach for a fight, if push came to shove on the disputed Sino-Indian boundary.

"Whether in terms of GDP, defence spend or any other parameter, the gap between the two is too wide to bridge and is getting wider by the day," he said.

Back in 1962, China and India had similar sized economies. Today, China's economy is FOUR times larger (and growing faster), with commensurate military spending.

As your own Naval Chief said, the gap has become too wide to catch up, and it is widening more every day.

This issue is way blown out of proportions. The Chinese are drilling off-shore blocks of the coast of Cuba and very close to Florida in Gulf of Mexico. But they find it objectionable when Indian are developing offshore of Vietnam. It is just some political grandstanding, just to shake Vietnam.

The whole drama is getting old, and stale. Just like Tuco said "If you want to shoot, shoot. Don't talk".

.
yep, Sri Lanka will benefit from this situation.

China don't leave anything to partner, they eat everything.

so what if you have more weapons, why we will surrender. US have more dangerous weapons than what you think.is that mean will you accept US as winner with out fight. most of you are older than me. atleast try to think.

China can easily nail down India's economic growth. As soon as China's economy eases, the war will begin if India continue to doggie playing...

China can easily nail down India's economic growth.

India's GDP growth is already slowing down to 6%.

According to the Moody's ratings agency:

India’s economy is likely to grow at 6.5% by mid-2012 from a growth of 7.8% year on year (YoY) in the first half of 2011, predicts Moody’s Analytics, a division of the global rating agency Moody’s. The agency is calling the engineering of a monetary policy led slowdown to fight inflation as a ‘failure’.

Inflation has been identified as the main problem with the wholesale price index registering a 9.7% annual growth in September 2011.

India slowing down sharply: Moody

. . .
Are we talking about same Moodys that gave Lehman Brothers and AIG a AAA rating in 2008.

The fact that India's economy is slowing down sharply is not a prediction, it is happening right now. Check out the quarterly data, it's at 7% and dropping.

. . .
I read about this in the morning on WSJ, it's something around 7%.
India Loses More Ground on China - India Real Time - WSJ

And dropping fast.

It's hilarious after ALL these years of Indians saying that "China's economy will collapse"... it is in fact India who is slowing down, before they were even able to sustain double digit growth in the first place!

They never even managed to enter the double-digit race to begin with.

.
I bet Indian economy will slow further in the coming years, plus assuming the figure is not faked by FM or Congress Party to win the election.

Chinese economy slows too, but in a far less extent. And saw in the other section, it's going to be 7.5 trillion dollars for the year, that could be 5 times the size of Indian economy.
