China - The world's hotbed of innovation?

When China was inventing some of the fairer skinned were still living in caves。

Now China is starting to invent again after a short 200 years in its long history, the whites are worried to death for fear of losing their control of the world。

Exactly.. western arrogance and stupidity will be the end of western domination and probably much sooner than they think. Good riddance....

So, where can we see some examples of Chinese innovation?

Prove it please. You really won't be able to, so i'll just call you a fat liar right now. And what good you did invent (ie gunpowder, paper) was improved within 100 years by the white cavemen.

What are you inventing? Importing business models from the west? Core technology for the "booming" Chinese software industry is also imported if this is your argument in support of "innovation".

for whoever is interested, an official EU pdf describing innovation in China and its obstacles/potentials:

It's all about how much money you put in research and development, you put in more money, you get more resarch results, sooner or later,it's always like this ,everything boils down how much money you spend,be it in military, education, infrastructure or scientific innovation,it's always like that.

that is just PPP. China's R&D expenditure amount is still smaller than US, EU and Japan.

Smaller than US,but overtook Japan last year

China overtakes Japan as world's 2nd largest spender on R&D
Updated: 15 Nov 2011

China has overtaken Japan to become the world's second biggest spender on industrial research and development (R&D), a report by the UN World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) said on Monday.

Low- and middle-income economies have increased their share of global R&D expenditure by 13 percentage points between 1993 and 2009. China accounts for most of this increase, propelling the country to the world's second largest R&D spender in 2009, according to the report.

Chinese investment in R&D rose to 12.8 percent of the world total in 2009, up from just 2.2 percent in 1993, said the report.

China aims to put 2.2 percent of its GDP into research and development by 2015, says a draft of the country's 12th Five-Year Plan.

Most R&D spending still takes place in high-income countries – around 70 percent of the world total. They spend around 2.5 percent of their gross domestic product (GDP) on R&D, more than double the rate of middle-income economies.

The United States held on to the top position in the global R&D rankings. But its share fell 3.4 percentage points to 33.4 percent.

The report also showed sharp rises in the number of Chinese applications for patents and trademarks, to protect innovations produced by Chinese research.

People posted a lot of news about it in this topic:

And not forget Taiwan role too. Taiwanese play a huge role in the IT world too. :)

Learn history please. You didn't know that Manchu Qing government ban gunpowder in China?

China do had their own politics and business model. That became a conflict with US who want everyone follow their model.

China is still in the developing stage and their intellectual development is still at early stage. China can't follow US and Europe standard. Theoretically China government can do that, but they won't, because it can kill a lot of companies in China. It's a double-edge sword.

Yepp.:D I'm Korean living in Korea.

How can you don't know anything about East Asia history and culture?

i need at least 17,000 narrative articles such as the one you posted annually to prove all the Chinese innovations are 'copied'```because thats how much PCT granted the patent to China, more over with over 15% annual increases``

so my question is how much western propaganda you want to spread``and people are not as gullible and naive as you``

and why not going back to gunpowder and noodles again? since you are talking about 'coying' technologies and inventions?

you showed your level of stupidity very well
lol, gunpowder. A lie by the west to make you feel better. Where are the earliest proven, on display guns? Ramen aint all that high tech...and similar foods came from everywhere (just like the tortilla, flat bread is universal)

It's not a good idea for South Korean to curry favour with Jp,You guys have a brother in north and they are able to launch rocket.

Hegel said "China has no history". their is no difference between AD1 China and AD1800 China. superstition-based culture, culture toward the past - not future -, inflexible academic environment, high brain drain, ... etc. China has almost every obstacle of innovation. no matter how they spend money, will be output anything.

When Han people started to recorded history, the Korean was still speaking like a beast, and their history is recorded in ancient Chinese yet, such a funny country that who announced they have a great history.

Papyrus is labelled "paper-like". The process is different and both were developed separately. We use the Chinese method of paper production and not papyrus.

Greek fire was thought to contain saltpeter but it has been debunked. So no, it's not gunpowder.

What is this mechanical greek compass you're talking about? As far as I know, the Greeks counted on celestial navigation. Please go ahead and enlighten us.
