Recent photos suggest the Type 96AG was heavily modified with add-on armor modules and explosive reactive armor, similar to the Type 99 standard. Its internal electronics may also have been upgraded to Type 99 standard.

This is the low of the high-low combo of PLA 3rd gen tank force.

When are they phasing out all those roundie turrents (ie type 69), they're so 20th cent.
