China sweeps sniper world cup titles

Chinese snipers ranked first in all five events at the 14th Military and Police Sniper World Cup in Budapest, Hungary.

The three-day competition attracted 130 competitors from 16 countries including China, Britain, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic and Hungary.

The eight-member Chinese sniper team participated in a total of 26 exercises under the five events, of which they won the gold medals.

"There are many new exercises this year that involve longer shooting distance for smaller targets, and they are more close to practical situations, which are quite challenging to all competitors," said Wang Yongchuan, a Chinese competitor.

The Chinese snipers are selected through seven rounds of domestic competitions from the Special Police of China, the most elite special forces of the country.

The sniper world cup is an annual event in Hungary and China has been in the first place for five years in a row.

WUXI, China, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Two Chinese teenagers lifted the Snooker World Cup on Sunday after they overcame a powerful Scotland team in Wuxi, China.

"Unbelievable! Magical! Our dream has been winning a world title. We just did not expect it happened so soon," said Zhou.

"I think we were lucky to move past the group stage and luck has been on our side since then," added Zhou.

The title favorite had been another Chinese pair, China A team that comprised Ding Junhui and Xiao Guodong but the defending champions were beaten by Scotland 4-1 on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Liang Wen-Chong wins first Japan title

Chinese golfer Liang Wen-Chong today won his first Japan Golf Tour title with a five shot victory at the JGT Championship Mori Building Cup Shishido Hills tournament in Ibaraki Prefecture north of Tokyo.

46 year old Liang led at the end of each round and after beginning today’s final round with a five shot lead he extended the margin early before late bogeys perhaps flattered the chasers.

Currently ranked 254 in the world Liang has played the Japan Golf Tour since 2004 but although he has recorded several runner-up finishes this was his maiden win in that country. Liang will now go to the top of the Japan Tour money list in 2015.

Just last week Liang earned a start at the US Open through Sectional Qualifying in Japan.

Australia’s Brad Kennedy, Korean, Young-Han Song, and Japan’s, Ryutaro Nagano, tied for second with Kennedy moving to 8th on the money list.

Four Australasians are currently inside the top ten on the Japan Tour money list in 2015 namely Adam Bland, (2nd) Michael Hendry (4th) Brad Kennedy (8th) and Scott Strange (9th)

Thanks
We are doing fine in some world or regional sports but still we are painfully the constant absentees from many big ticket events like at the pinnacle tournaments in football, golf, tennis, basketball, ice hockey, motor car races, yatcht races, some track and field events, rugby, hockey ...The reason for me in creating this thread and to keep adding fuel to it is because China can be seen in a lot many other lights than the stereotypes
