Gujarat, which has become a favoured destination for industrial investments, has inspired China to implement certain best practices from the state.

Surat's flourishing textile industry, Rajkot's booming auto components industry and Morbi's ceramics hub have attracted interest from China. The Chinese want to document best practices in these clusters and then share the same with industries in their country.

"Cluster twinning study provides an evolutionary look at interesting trends and insights into clusters. The findings of the study will be implemented by China in its industries," said Jagat Shah, chairman, India China Economic & Cultural Council (ICEC), Gujarat.

The study is being commissioned and funded by the Union ministry of commerce and industry. ICEC is coordinating the cluster twinning study on best practices in the industries of Surat, Morbi and Rajkot.

The study was commissioned after China Council for Promotion of International Trade had conveyed that it wanted to learn from various industries in India.

It may be interesting to note that India and China are competing in the categories with China having similar clusters in Shaoxing for textile, Foshan for ceramics and Taizhou for auto parts. The study will benchmark the best practices in the cluster and showcase them to similar Chinese clusters.

The framework of best practices will cover industry verticals in the areas of production, finance, marketing, intellectual property rights, innovations and human resources.

A report on the study is expected to be released in November. Further, similar studies on 10 other industry verticals in India and China are expected.

"Cluster twinning studies will also offer an opportunity to learn from each other's best practices. Similar studies and analysis will also be carried out on China's clusters and are likely to be implemented in India," said Shah.

Gujarat is without a doubt India's industrial success story.

Gujarat's economy: India's Guangdong | The Economist

These days Gujarat accounts for 5% of India's population but 16% of its industrial output and 22% of its exports. Its growth has outpaced India's (see chart) and it wins accolades from business people. A recent comparison of Indian states by McKinsey, a consultancy, waxed lyrical about Gujarat. It might yet play the role of industrial locomotive for the country, as Guangdong province did for China in the 1990s.

If you look at the chart, Gujarat's growth rate is going way above double-digits, even reaching 15% several times.

But Gujarat is only one province, and the central Government in India seems to hate Gujarat's economic model, and they hate its Chief Minister too.

The 21st century mughals sitting in delhi hate any part of india growing or standing up for its own people's rights and dignity

I think its all management. He know how to manage the resources of that state. Gujarat has developed itself with its own resources without much help from central Govt. While states like West Bengal and Bihar demands special packages from center.

Politics of Gujarat least affect Center.

so, now we will see the mass killing of minorities in China too??

not good idea.....

 don't screw china and yourselves.even more minorities in pakistan had killed, converted and flee to other safest places.

You have made an excellent point.

Just like the Chinese are learning from Gujarat, Modi should go and learn from experts how to kill women and children.

Even after supreme court giving him clean chit why do some people still hold him responsible for gujarat riots

But they are in jail convicted for killing 59 Hindu pilgrims - most of whom were women and children.

BTW its always good to learn from the Chinese certain things.

Ofcourse..its their survival instincts.

There is nothing wrong with learning and applying successful experiences others have developed.

Nothing bad. Infact we have to learn many things from the Chinese, one amongst them being infrastructural development and other being dealing with the jehadi menace. You guys have handled it pretty effectively in Xinjiang

Maybe it has nothing to do with Modi?

Maybe they are simply trying to discredit Gujarat's Economic Model.

i dont know about that lets ask Joe does he hates modi for gujarat riots in which there is no evidence against him or is he just trying to discredit gujarat's economic model

No. It has everything to do with politics. The Congress recognizes that the only leader who poses a threat to their dynasty is Modi. The rest of them are too disorganized, selfish and lack a grass roots connect like Modi. If Modi is somehow made to get on the backfoot using the bogey of riots then their dynasty is safe for another generation.

The NGO cottage industry is just the Congress' mouthpiece to forward their political agenda.

Actually you know what ? The more I think about it, the more I tend to believe that in a long drawn clash of civilizations the Chinese are probably the closest that the Indian (civilization) can relate to [as against the Western and Islamic] and hence there is no point in bickering between these two ancient civilizations. We have to learn to co-exist.
