China supports Pakistan's stand on Kashmir - Chinese Premier Li Keqiang

Big powers--which China certainly is now--often have double standards. Look at America: Saudi Mullahs (the King and down) are okay while Iran's are not okay. Just saying :)

Yes, on the whole, China will stay 'neutral' about Kashmir in public diplomacy but will continue to support Pakistan in practical terms. Pakistan truly is China's best friend especially in the India-China equation. It doesn't even need elaboration. Perhaps even after the border disputes between India-China are resolved they will remain significant rivals.

Just to add to that, while the Chinese people do have VERY warm feelings towards us, China's stance is not blind emotionalism.

It will simply continue to be in Chinese national interest to stick with us, and vice versa.

And I don't see our common interests diverging anytime soon.

Assuming for a while that Pakistan's foreign policy revolves around India, one could completely understand, since Pakistan being the smaller country considers India an existential threat.

What is your excuse? You plan to be a super power, the first 100 trillion economy and the whole focus of your foreign policy is a small country (relatively speaking) Pakistan?

If that is not emotionalism then what is?
Simple answer, Kashmir. Agree for a peaceful status quo, your 'assumed' Pakistan centered foreign policy would cease to exist.

Africa is in love with China :smitten:

So are Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanamar and Pakistan.

Are you feeling left out here? :azn:
In Bangladesh we have successfully installed an anti Pakistan regime.

Bhutan is an Indian satellite state.

In Nepal we recently ousted anti India PM & installed a PM close to RAW.China premier forced to cancel his visit.

We signed major defence deals with Myanmar last month.

We made Lanka buy naval ships from us instead of China.

So not at all feeling left out.

Feel free to continue your whiny emotional Pakistan centered foreign policy.

Your fanatics ain't gonna let you solve Kashmir. Whereas in the meantime "big boys" think 50-100 years ahead.

India will always be rememberd in history as an elephant with brain size of an emotional 3 years old child.

Double standards yes (especially when it comes to foreign countries), but the policies of major nations will always be consistently towards their own national interests.

So while it seems like double standards from the outside (and the double standards are definitely there), the underlying logic is much more consistent.

Chinese foreign policy is driven by its own interests. And that today lies in the CPEC. Your country's positions prove that. But, give it time. Like the Americans you will learn too. And then, maybe, we will see the true rise of Asian supremacy.

Can Pakistani Military and civilian leadership convince its people of a status quo settlement in Kashmir?

Being a relatively smaller country, Pakistan was playing with this idea few years back, despite being subject of worst Indian sponsored terrorism.

Things were starting to look better. But then came your Modi with all those fan boys and started enforcing those beef policies even in Kashmir. It was only a matter of time till it erupted again from within.

Now at this moment, Pakistan can not afford to stop supporting Kasmiri victims.

Honest opinion.
