We are voting against them because of internal political pressure from our Tamil populations, and i do support voting against them, given the atrocities they carried on their Tamil populations (Not talking about LTTE).
Today an interesting article came in the local news paper. It was about the difference between the foreign policy of India and China. It praised the chinese policy of solving it's problems regarding chinese diaspora leaving outside. And simultaneously it also told about India's regional party politics harming it's national interest.Very Interesting read.
This is Indians way of seeing it and is it your problem you have to sort it among yourselves, for us you just cannt ask for good relations and yet keep stabbing people from the back

Have we committed anyway of not voting against them? They knew India will vote against them, in fact not voting would have been a backstabbing on the Tamil diaspora in Sri Lanka.
BDW, they did helped Pakistan in 1971 war, against our will.
@scorpionx India is a different case and China's policies have nothing to do with Indian diversity and society structure.
we maintain relations with every body and act in our own interests just as u do..we stay in nobodies camp.even china maintains relations with all those countries.
we didnt voted against srilanka yet..its easy for u to support them because there are no tamil citizens in china..in a democracy like ours people play a crucial role that too before elections..besides india told them multiple times to refrain from the violence against innocent civilians which was even accorded by their president.and they continued their blood shed..
That sounds like India's foreign policy is whimsical and can be swayed by its populace in elections, very risky for other countries to maintain stable relationships. General population should not sway major national policies, given that most of people are ignorant of larger policy implications, and are short-sighted. But oh well, if that suite India, then be it.

Just a short while back, lot of outsiders said that Hu Jintao's "Peaceful Rise" concept was fake, and that he was secretly a warmonger.
In hindsight, Hu Jintao did not start any wars or bloodshed. There were a lot of diplomatic conflicts no doubt, but no wars, and no cross-border bloodshed with any neighbouring country.
People should realize that modern Chinese leaders are pragmatists, they think and act with logic and reason. They are not ideological fanatics that would start wars for no reason.
