This is a move to relocate some of the profits to the Chinese hinterlands away from the coast, The income gaps are quite big between developed, industrialized coast and agrarian interior.

i don't think so ,every city and every country can do things like this.
the govenment should do only 3 things:
1.make a decision to develop the area.
2.sell the lands to the developers.
3.take a cup of tea and wait.

in India finding such huge land is number one problem, it is not as easy as China because of population density and type of rule. you will see massive strike and protests from people, they will approach court, and only land acquiring will take decades. funding such huge project also is a big problem.

Urbanization is the process of Villages turning into Towns and Towns developing into Cities, not building new Cities.....I do not know how chinese system work but the only other successful city that was built from scratch is 'Las Vegas' and that was a private initiative.

Maybe democracy might not be such a bad thing in china now .....maybe its about time your people had their say in development rather than let 'Tughlaq' decide.

It seems the Chinese have nothing better to do!! Do they plan to accommodate the tens of millions of poor Chinese peasants who now live in stone/wooden houses? Or is this just for the rich and famous bourgeois class of the CPC?
