China’s plan to build a massive 120 million-square-foot city — from scratch

Does this new city have plans for a underfloor cooling system? it will increase efficiency and the city will need to consume less energy

I have no related information.i guess no.in the north China ,underfloor warming system is widely used in newly built housings,Changsha is in south China.Changsha is one of the hottest cities in China .i hate the high temperature in summer (30-40℃):hitwall:,

designers and builders should follow strict energy conservation codes in China,an external wall insulation system is needed.

District cooling and automated waste collection are both neat ideas to implement in a new city

District cooling, which uses chilled water to cool buildings, is being tried in a few places such as Toronto, Cornell University and Masdar City in Abu Dhabi. Its proponents say the technology consumes 90% less energy compared with traditional air-conditioning.

In automated vacuum waste collection systems, garbage is sorted out and then sucked away at high speed through underground tubes to a central location, which can be as far as 20 km away. It is being used in cities such as London, Montreal, Stockholm and Barcelona. No Indian city has these technologies yet.

..In Indian history we had an emperor called Mohammad Bin Tughlaq (1325 to 1351) who history calls 'pagal Tughlaq' (Mad Tughlaq) or Tughlaq the fool.

He was inspired by the Chinese and was the first to introduced token currency in India.

He was a brilliant man but he foolishly thought of building a new capital city and build a city called Daulatabad from scratch. He built it and then forcibly asked the citizens of Delhi to move there. However its not easy to settle in a newly built habitat and within 2 years he had to move back to Delhi along with all his angry citizens. In spite of his brilliance in other areas, history does not treat this ruler well.

Even Akbar (1556-1605), one of the wisest emperors of India decided to build a new capital city from scratch called Fatehpur Sikri. He built it and could only live in it for 10 years and the whole city was abandoned due to lack of water . The abandoned city is today a UNESCO World Heritage site. Chinese members should visit it some day.

...at times when chinese members claim to be ahead of India by 20 years ....when seen through Indian eyes, they sometime appear living in the 16 century. Those who forget history are destined to repeat it.

This is not a troll post ...... I wish the chinese well .....hope history is kind too.

Think of it..Chinese Dubai? The Arabs sheikhs have got some competition now.

ha,we don't know your stories, but we know with our fast urbanization process dozens of new cities spring up every decade,Shenzhen is just one of the examples of our side of the history.

Urbanization is the process of Villages turning into Towns and Towns developing into Cities, not building new Cities.....I do not know how chinese system work but the only other successful city that was built from scratch is 'Las Vegas' and that was a private initiative.

Maybe democracy might not be such a bad thing in china now .....maybe its about time your people had their say in development rather than let 'Tughlaq' decide.

I would term our Shenzhen is also a successful story, now it is one of the best cities in China while didn't exist barely 30 years ago.

That is true about Shenzhen also if you look at it many cities have been formed in recent times like Brasilia or Islamabad, even Navi mumbai is a new city as is New Delhi.

Urbanization is infact the number of people living in urban environments like cities or towns as those living in a rural setting such as villages. China for example as a higher rate of urbanization
statistics as to India does.

Wiki tells me that shenzhen is mentioned in chinese records from 1410. Its not exactly a new city built from scratch.

that must be the case,I guess that's why they call the city New Delhi.

Chinese towns ,villiages...they all have record in history,Shanghai was not a city 100 or so years ago, butthere used to be a county in today's Shanghai, with different names of cause.

Local people called the drains in paddy fields “zhen” really it was not a 'city' though as it is today.

Shenzhen (深圳) literally means “deep drains” as the area was once crisscrossed with rivers and streams, with deep drains within the paddy fields.

Yep and Old Delhi we have still today which was capital of the Mughals, the British laid the foundations of New Delhi.
