The only reason he was not a pile of flaming wreckage was because the Soviets themselves screwed up their procedure. If only sensors had stopped advancing for the past 3 decades.

The F-117 flew and dropped bombs without radar to assist navigation. To get to Beijing undetected an F-117 or even the B-2 can just drop below radar horizon.

If you think China's air defence is bad, then you should ask the pilots of the 3000 fixed wing aircraft and 5000 helicopters that got turned into free iron ore for Vietnam how Chinese air defence crews are. Or maybe the U-2 pilots and their 1 way tickets?

This is not about being 'bad' but about whether if Chinese air defense radars are 'good enough' against an F-117 class aircraft. Chinese air defense may very well be 'good enough' for others.
