China Russia relations

How are relations between China and Russia (both SCO members)?

The Russians are cash-strapped and are looking for anyone to partner with to develop their military hardware.

India has been smart and taken up the Russians' offer on PAKFA, Brahmos, and Novator K-100.

Seems like Russian technology is up for sale. How come China isn't buying it all?

What's the point to cooperate with Russia, they only want to sell and transfert a second class technologies, there is no such ting as equal basic partner in international cooperation...I understand Russians positions but China is not stupid neither, knowing that we will only get a second class tech..why throwing moneys to other pockets for them to enhance their technologies, instead if we spend this amount money on R&D...we may not get the leading edge technology but some modest progress and feed a pool of researchers and scientists ..also allow use to build a solid foundation on R&D for future endertaking...

the typical example are our engine research program...we still have a long way to solve the problem but at leas we have maintain a pool of engine scientist for future engine development...we're still buying russian engines but we will have our own chance to be indepandant one day.

Bottom Line...in my opinions China and Russia will never have an honnest cooperations at equal basic unless they have no other choice...that both are condamn to survive togheter or die...otherwise each will look to fulfill it own destiny. Russians knew that..Chinese knew that.

Our aircraft engine is independent nowadays, we only consider to buy couple of hundred AL-31 for our old Su-30MKK and Su-27SK, meanwhile the deal is not yet signed as the TH engine is becoming more and more mature in mass production.

Now even WS-10B is entering into the stage of mass production, not mentioning that WS-10A is far cheaper to produce right now.

IMHO Chengdu has been manufacturing its own AL-31FN for a long time now. It's already public knowledge that Chengdu engine corporation is reverse engineering the D-30KP-2. Most likely, AL-31FN was reverse engineered a while ago.

Where else could China have gotten all those AL-31FN engines considering it hasn't confirmed an order in 5 years?

Yeah, but we still stick with our TH engine because it is a superior design with more fuel efficiency compared to the AL-31 series.

It's a political issue between CAC and SAC (and their affiliated engine companies). Chengdu is doing 5th generation engine but prefers the reverse-engineered AL-31FN over Shenyang's FWS10, IMO.

Not Chengdu, but Hongqi factory from Xi'an is the one producing the WS-15 engine.

And the TH engine is superior to the AL-31 engine according to the big shrimps.

And we don't have the source code of the AL-31 engine, then i doubt that we can produce it.
