Featured China ramps up production of JF-17 fighter jet

Raads engine is one time use, here we are talking about military aero engines. That need to be operated at extreme conditions and still deliver power on demand.
They also need to be able to run for a few thousand hours. That is the problem. One shot performance is not the goal.
We have industries manufacturing part for Boeing commercial engine. That needs to be updated and brought higher

If im not mistaken and this engine is developed in-house then the expertise and manufacturing potential is there. As I already said several times, im not talking about going in and building a modern turbofan engine from scratch, im talking about starting small (with drones, or civillian applications) and develop the industry to the point where 10-20 years from now an indigenous military engine can be produced.

There is enough domestic demand from the military, LEA's, and civillians, it just needs a kickstart.

Yes from what is heard is that it has been made locally, but the matter still remains one time use. 30 minues to an hour life on constant thrust.

I also said that we are making parts for Boeing to be used in commercial airliner. We need to scale up on that. this will allow us to manufacture parts and also gain experience while maintaining quality.

China has accelerated the production of JF-17 fighter jets for Pakistan. The JF-17 is the same aircraft that was used against the Indian Air Force (IAF) after the Balakot strikes and claimed to have shot-down an Indian MiG21 Bison.

According to earlier reported Global Times – in the first half of 2020, the number of JF-17s delivered was the most in the past five years. As of June 30, the production line of the JF-17 has on average reduced the production period of a single aircraft by 15 days compared to last year, China Aviation News reported.

The latest, modified version of the JF-17, known as the JF-17 Block 3, made its maiden flight in December 2019, the Aerospace Knowledge magazine reported then. In March 2019, Yang Wei, chief designer of the fighter jet, said development and production of the JF-17 Block 3 was underway and the third block will see the JF-17’s information-based warfare capability and weapons upgraded.

According to an analysis by Jane’s, the new jet features a couple of additions over previous systems including a new wide-angle holographic head-up display and a new imaging infrared (IIR)-based missile approach warning system.

While JF-17 Block I and II variants are reportedly powered by Klimov RD-93MA turbofan engine, the Block III version of the JF-17 are slated to receive the RD-93MA or Chinese WS-13 engine.

dont understand this news

its like the same news from a few years where China was to produce 100 x JF17??

China is not manufacturing JF17 so how is it going to "Speed" up production

I guess they just mean China is working on Block III and going to speed up the development ?

the fastest rate was 2017 when PAC built 18 units

and this article says first half of 2020 they produced the most in past 5 years ?

but we always planned to produce 14 x JF17B + 2 x JF17 Block III in 2020 thats 16 units

if pakistan produces 16-18 a year how do they have 124?

China Speeds-Up Production Of JF-17s For Pakistan
nope, according to the Chinese (in the know) it is just to compensate for the time lost due to Covid. once caught up to the original schedule things will go back to the normal speed

if pakistan produces 16-18 a year how do they have 124?
first 2 were made in 2007. if they have 124 over 11 years=11 per year (2008-2019). + some 3 for Nigeria and 16 for Burma. 124+3+16=143. works out as 13 per year

BTW Pakistan has 135 (minus 2) not 124
we always planned to produce 14
135+3+16=154 works out as 14 per year

China has ramped up production of JF-17 fighter jet, which was jointly developed with Pakistan. In the first half of 2020, the number of aircraft delivered was the most in the past five years, according to industry reports.

As of June 30, the production line of the JF-17 has on average shortened the production period of a single aircraft by 15 days compared to last year, China Aviation News, a newspaper affiliated with the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), reported last week.

The Pakistani Air Force is the main operator of JF-17 fighter jets. Myanmar also flies the Chinese-Pakistani made fighter jets.

The latest, powered-up version of the JF-17, known as the JF-17 Block 3, made its maiden flight in December 2019, the Aerospace Knowledge magazine reported then.

In March 2019, Yang Wei, chief designer of the China-Pakistan co-developed fighter jet, said development and production of the JF-17 Block 3 was underway, and the third block will see the JF-17's information-based warfare capability and weapons upgraded.

Some other countries have also approached AVIC about purchasing the JF-17 Block 3, Yang said last year.

Advent of drone technology and its military and commercial use has unfold many business openings wrt drone power. High capacity batteries in customize size, customize solar cells and panels, scaled down version of piston engines and jet engines.

There is a market available for scaled down version of piston and jet engines not only in Pakistan but in friendly countries.

Commercial drones are being manufactured in Pakistan. Most of these are battery driven or scaled down piston engine driven drones and very few are driven by miniaturized jet engines.

Moreover, the infrastructure developed for any of the abovementioned technology has multi purpose applications. Therefore, the market will not be limited to drones.

Business initiative in private sector is possible with affordable risk factor.

are nuclear weapons more difficult to research and make than jet engines?

not to point finger at u but most of pakistanis have a defeatist mindset !

They are different. Nuclear weapon is strategic mainstay, it makes inestimable values as long as you own it. No matter how difficulty or how much it cost, countries intended to make it.
But for countries, it's still a doubt if it's worth to make jet engines considering its long time, uncountable budget and continuous technical improvement.

Hi,

I have written on this extensively many a years ago---. Fighter aircraft engine manufacturing is one of the most difficult engineering problem to overcome for a war fighting nation.

A nation like japan and korea have not been able to produce a modern fighter aircraft engine yet. And even if they did---it would be a wastage of money---.

If the scale of difficulty to build a nuclear weapon is 100---that of building a modern day fighter aircraft egnine is maybe around 100000.

Building modern, high performance gas turbines is basically the pinnacle of a country's MIC
