China Protests Against Korea Donating Warship to Philippines

China has strongly protested against the government's decision to donate a 1,200-ton patrol boat and a landing vessel to the Philippines, it emerged Monday.

Former Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin agreed in a meeting on May 30 with his Philippines counterpart Voltaire Gazmin to hand over the aging vessels free of charge.

According to the Foreign Ministry, an official at the Chinese Embassy in Seoul visited the ministry on June 10 after the decision was reported by media and asked for it to be canceled.

China is engaged in a territorial spat with Manila over islands in the South China Sea.

Another "hands-me-down" weapon system. It seems the PH Military is becoming an army with donated weapons.

I think the donated warship is a Pohang-class corvette.

More ship to shoot Taiwanese.

May be Taiwan need to donate a ship and artillery to bombard a city to North Korea.

Ha the reaction here so funny chinese imperials hate filipinos please dont mind them anyway china has no rigth to say anything about Philippine Korean relations they just have to live with it.

South Korea and Philippines are both US allies, so it's just normal if they help each other out.

From what I have read, the donation is more like a "thank you" by South Korea to the Philippines when PH sent an expeditionary force to the Korean peninsula to fight in the Korean War.

True but china being the big baby as it is will probibly presure the South Koreans but am confident of them shoving it off

Maybe you can rename your army as "The Salvation Army" :enjoy:

We already have something like the Salvation Army, making up 2.3% of the PH population and promotes bloc voting during elections... and we cannot call our army "Salvage Army" because the word salvage has a different meaning here.

I'm not surprised with the bloc voting thing. They are actually a Christian church.
