Two things struck me from the article :

1. The governments seem to be focusing more though occasionally on sterilization in rural areas when there are also so many economically deprived people in urban areas, living in slums and in pipes, and having more children than they can get them to prosper. But this is also a case of government mis-spending ( on the military, on unnecessary construction projects etc ) and of socio-economic disparity ( Mukesh Ambani's 27-storey "house" ).

2. Many middle class families are still conservative and produce three children as well and push them into middle class poverty, where they will be able to buy consumer items and flats on loan but for years be wage slaves to repay the loans. They will birth children who will repeat the cycle. And they will be culturally conservative as well. Hindus and Muslims alike.

So all in all, burdensome on the planet's ecosystem and societally disharmonious.

What should and shouldn't have been allowed was the decision of the people of the nations and their government. Not of white saviours who have done "research" to tell everyone about the correct population levels are for each country while they hog disproportionate levels of resources. Population control is good, but ultimately a decision best left to the individual. Past has shown us that population levels rise exponentially as a country develops and plateau off as it becomes fully developed. Are these population levels unsustainable? Possibly, but these doom predictions have been made for decades. Even if it is unsustainable, it's because of America and Europe who have hogged all the resources and not some villager in Nigeria or India who has 5 children and makes less than $5/day. Consumerism might not be sustainable, but humans are resilient. They'll find a way. You said the video talked about countries like Bangladesh and not India and China which are billion plus. I gave the link to explain the India and China are special cases that are often seen in statistics and have the name "king effect". The problems of middle class people who have more children and push themselves into poverty aren't cases of individual ignorance as you suggest, rather they are expected group consequences of a developing country. This is explained in the video. Forcing them to sterilise is counter productive. I consider myself a market socialist, and accept that markets often produce these obscene displays like Ambanis, but markets are still better than communist central management, as the history of China and Vietnam has shown us. The supposed government mismanagement of resources might be a policy failure, but that's not the issue here. These will self correct as time progresses and the government has more experience.

Of course I could. It's shameful that the government of India under multiple leaderships hasn't apologized for the war crimes committed by the Indian army in multiple areas like the Northeast, the red corridor and Kashmir.
