China No. 1 Foreign Investor in Bangladesh, New Official Figures Show

Where have we not?

China is an extremely important development partner for BD
- in fact I would say maybe the most right now as it is transferring military tech to BD to build ships and missiles.

We are disappointed with China for it's wrong policy on Rohingya as China could have restrained Myanmar and so the whole episode in 2017 need never have happened.

I understand your sentiment about Rohingya issue, but you also need to see from Chinese stand. Every country is working for the best interest of its own people. I just wish our Bangladesh friends could understand that we sometimes may have conflict interest, and move forward from this point as we have more strategic interests over all than just Rohingya issue between our two countries.

Some Bangladesh members in this forum have turned extremely anti-China, and I don't think it is something positive.

Let us agree to disagree about Rohingya.
Best to not talk about that issue as it will only lead to mudslinging between the two sides.

You know that the current 1 billion US dollars a year FDI from China is only the drop in the bucket as China will invest 2.3 billion US dollars out of 3.5 billion dollars for an integrated steel mill in BD as just one example. There is a lot of money to be made in BD as it can grow easily grow at least 7 % a year for many more decades to come and will have a population nearing 200 million by 2030 and so is actually a large country in population terms. Chinese and everyone else are welcome to invest in the BD economy and share in BD's rising prosperity.

Stop it. You are different from Bangladesh.

You have nuclear weapons, JF-17 and 054A. you can rely on your own strength to deal with international conflicts.

What your comment got to do with what i said? i was talking about China's bad perception in countries, not whether Pakistan should rely on anyone or not.

This is all good. Economic co-operation with China will flourish even more in coming years, no doubt. But China as a country lost all the respect in the eyes of common Bangladeshi people, may be even in the eyes of Bangladesh Govt.(but they will not reveal it due to diplomatic reason). Now people do not care what China do or give to Bangladesh. There was a time when Chinese projects in Bangladesh earned praise and goodwill feeling. Not anymore. I think China also does a lot of things in Vietnam and some of other countries, but warm feeling towards China is not there. Bangladesh-China relation also heading in a same direction. Govt. to Govt. will continue to co-operate in trade, investment or other things, but warm, friendly vibe and sense of solidarity will be absent.
Your government is much smarter than some fools here

Nobody is fool here. We are not diplomats here.

Yep, China has lost all moral authority in BD now.

Just 2 years ago, BD nation looked on in hope as China rising to become the dominant power in Asia but now they are worried about this prospect.

What do you want me to say? I said little BD is not very different from Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Bhutan. Kenya, Uganda, Somalia... Some little Bangladeshi say what Pakistan is?

How can I answer?

funny,
Do you think that Bangladesh's international status is very important?

Of course not.

btw, what was China's international status just 2 decades ago?

World is a very transient place and Chinese should remember that.

2 decades ago? that is the 28th anniversary of China resumption of UNSC seats.

Your avatar is funny. It remind me of Mao.

Oh sorry. I forget that Bangladeshi people don't play basketball.

For the Bangladeshi to better understand basketball. Now look at Wikipedia.

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately 9.4 inches (24 cm) in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter mounted 10 feet (3.048 m) high to a backboard at each end of the court) while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one or more one-point free throws. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but if regulation play expires with the score tied, an additional period of play (overtime) is mandated.

Players advance the ball by bouncing it while walking or running (dribbling) or by passing it to a teammate, both of which require considerable skill. On offense, players may use a variety of shots—the lay-up, the jump shot, or a dunk; on defense, they may steal the ball from a dribbler, intercept passes, or block shots; either offense or defense may collect a rebound, that is, a missed shot that bounces from rim or backboard. It is a violation to lift or drag one's pivot foot without dribbling the ball, to carry it, or to hold the ball with both hands then resume dribbling.

The five players on each side at a time fall into five playing positions: the tallest player is usually the center, the tallest and strongest is the power forward, a slightly shorter but more agile big man is the small forward, and the shortest players or the best ball handlers are the shooting guard and the point guard, who implements the coach's game plan by managing the execution of offensive and defensive plays (player positioning). Informally, players may play three-on-three, two-on-two, and one-on-one.

Invented in 1891 by Canadian-American gym teacher James Naismith in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States, basketball has evolved to become one of the world's most popular and widely viewed sports.[1] The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the most significant professional basketball league in the world in terms of popularity, salaries, talent, and level of competition.[2][3] Outside North America, the top clubs from national leagues qualify to continental championships such as the Euroleague and FIBA Americas League. The FIBA Basketball World Cup and Men's Olympic Basketball Tournament are the major international events of the sport and attract top national teams from around the world. Each continent hosts regional competitions for national teams, like EuroBasket and FIBA AmeriCup.

The FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup and Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament feature top national teams from continental championships. The main North American league is the WNBA (NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship is also popular), whereas strongest European clubs participate in the EuroLeague Women.
