With the geopolitical loss, Xi Jinping might accommodate the PLA hawks by finding something else to compensate, which is to grab South Tibet (Arunachal Pradesh) and to give the entire Kashmir to Pakistan.

USA in their mind doesn't really care about India's safety at all, but they just want to use India as a cannon fodder to foil China's BRICS Bank/AIIB/SCO/One Belt One Road plans.
