China is good but why doesn't it have a bigger role in Information Technology?

@Jackdaws

All this is a technical stuff. I am a layman. Can you confirm if all this is software?

IT the Information Technology.

Summary for comman people to understand.

Any information of Technology which can lead you towards the development of technology such as computers, electronics, softwares applications to till artificial intelligence etc.

But unfortunately in pakistan and india The information technololy means how to operate the technology. Not how to Develop and how to reverse engineering.

The simplest technology is to develop a softwares/applications using different programing languages in which india/pakistan is smothly progressing day by day but not other technolgies to develop and revese engineering it.

But india is moving gradually for reverse engineering and developing specially supercomputers... But india has to do really work hard to compete US and China..

Language cannot be the reason. Even Russians aren't good at English but they are no. 1 in coding and creating world class softwares.

If I am mistaken or misinformed please educate me.

Just Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu have more market valuation than the entire Indian IT industries combined. That's not even including 50+ software unicorn chinese startups compare to 9 Indian unicorn startups. China has second largest IT and software ecosystem in the world after the US.

china needs to setup call center hire slaves and label call center slave services as IT industry and become the largest IT exporter in the world like India

Nah - it is pretty much all hardware. And all reverse-engineered or copied.

Huawei is big - but how did it become big? It stole Cisco's source code -

What does Xiaomi or Vivo use - Android OS.

Then read this -
https://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/15/technology/15fraud.html

Chinese engineer claimed he made a great microchip. Turned out - he erased Motorola's name and tried to pass it off on his own.

China can make good stuff - manufacturing is their forte. Software required creativity and some thinking. Not exactly China's forte.

good job using sources from decade ago. While Indian is still doing low level cheap coding for western companies with no technology brand of its own to this very day. Chinese today software unicorn startups number in 50s, while Indian only has 9. And Chinese ecommerce and software companies, Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu alone worth more than entire Indian IT industry combined in stock valuation.

To dig an article published 12 years ago really need lots of hard work and creative thinkings, maybe that is why china can't be the call center of the world

Why would anyone want to educate you?

This thread isn't about India but about China. Alibaba is a marketplace - it is not an IT firm. Don't know about the other 2 - so can't comment

It's not that hard when your Internet is not state controlled or censored. But I can understand why someone from China would consider a simple google search as "hard work" - that's precisely why China is horrible at IT.

The numero uno Supercomputer is not American or Japanese but Chinese:

Disregard the Indian jealousy or insecurity toward China.

Things are going to start getting even more closed in terms of the future of software/hardware , at least in the desktop world, as we all move towards a more VPN type computer experience.

Right now many US companies are moving their work desktops to virtual Amazon Workspaces. You get a fast CPU,tons of RAM, guaranteed backup, and instant firm-wide software updates. Basically thousands of machines in the same state. No more expense of upgrading thousands of machines or wondering why somebody’s computer isn’t working like the others. No specific “personal” office computer.

There will probably be a wave of super fast expensive CPU’s coming out (even quantum) that will ONLY be available on cloud sites. Your next super realistic console or PC game might only be playable on the cloud.

Soon these virtual desktop companies will restrict which software can run in these environments pushing small software players out. Russian clouds will have Russian software, Chinese clouds Chinese software, US will have US.

It’s going to happen quick.

I think they deliberately misinterpreted the question. I think they knew very well that usually the term 'Information Technology' is referred to software and NOT hardware and call centre.

Yes,huawei stoke US 5G which US themselves can’t even implement in the first place :enjoy:

Chinese fastest supercomputer must be stolen from US through a time machine since US themselves can’t even make a supercomputer as fast as Chinese.

Sure, if you put it that way... Alibaba is a marketplace enabled by software, just like google is search directory enabled by software. Everyone knows Chinese software industry trumps Indian by a huge margin, Indian is not even in a competition. I agree with what you said "Software required creativity and some thinking", it shows not only Indian can't make things, Indian lacks creativity as well as thinking. Don't delude yourself, Indian are not close to Chinese in any kind of creative thinking. No wonder India has no software NOR hardware companies in the same league as the Chinese. Chinese dominates Indian in everything, I mean everything, software, hardware, you name it, all of which requires high iq and creative thinking, which Indian lacks.

If you are not familiar with Tencent and Baidu, do a simple Google search: "Most valuable tech company in Asia". The result will show Chinese dominates the list with their software and hardware tech companies, Indian, with their low creativity, is nowhere to be seen.

The thing is, even in software Chinese trumps the Indian.
@Jackdaws batana is it true?

I remember reading in an interview in Indian newspaper way back in 2001-02.... Chinese premier Zhu Rhongji saying, "You (Indians) are strong in software. We (Chinese) are strong in hardware."

Something to back u up. There are billions of transaction and billions of dollars flowing around in split second. And the computer even need to sort billions of customer frequent items and sort out the best option and viewing to attract buying from customers. You can imagine the enormous stress and strain require from massive amount of data and handling. If somebody think this does not require any software and super server and while Alibaba is just a simple marketplace. It show how shallow these people that can never do big things. :enjoy:
