China firm to build mega dam in Pak kashmir despite India’s strong opposition

Everything that you might do in the SCS will be paid back by Chinese activities in waters surrounding the subcontinent。

The Indian Ocean is NOT your backyard。The Americans have been there for decades。Now the Chinese are following suit

Oh really ?? we are sooo scared

Indian Ocean will always remain as our backyard .Even US cant do anything about it .
You tried for something in SL and we countered that effectively .
Now our prime modernization area is our Navy and you can see induction of new advanced ships in every months.
If this goes at this speed .we will have at least 200+ modern ships within two decades including 30 advanced subs and 3 CBG's .
On topic .Then we will also expand our pure business relation with SCS nations in SCS.Then dont cry are at that time.

A Chinese state-run company on Thursday announced plans to go ahead with a mega dam in Azad Kashmir (***), the latest indicator of Beijing moving forward with major projects in the region despite India’s strong opposition.

One of China’s biggest state-run hydropower companies, the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) which manages the 22,500 MW Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze river – the world’s largest dam – has signed an agreement to develop the Kohala hydropower project in ***, the firm said in a statement posted on its website.

This 1,100 MW dam will come up on the Jhelum River, downstream from Muzaffarabad in ***. The total investment in the project is estimated at $2.4 billion. Both countries had agreed on a 30-year tariff for the dam, according to Pakistani media reports.

The deal for the dam underlines China’s willingness to go forward with major projects in ***, despite India’s consistent opposition.

Indian officials have pointed out China’s objections to joint exploration projects between India and Vietnam in the South China Sea, most of which is claimed by Beijing.

Beijing, however, has said the ‘purely commercial’ projects were without prejudice to the Kashmir issue and that it was not taking a position on territorial disputes between India and Pakistan.

The Kohala dam has been billed as a key project in the new China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) venture that envisages widening the Karakoram Highway, exploring a railway link and a number of energy and infrastructure projects in a corridor connecting Kashgar, in China’s far western Xinjiang region, through ***, to the Gwadar port in Pakistan on the Arabian Sea that is built and managed by China.

The CPEC has been pushed by President Xi Jinping as a key pillar of his pet ‘Belt and Road’ initiative, referring to a Silk Road Economic Belt connecting China to Central Asia, Europe, and a Maritime Silk Road to Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean.

The CPEC, emerging as a key part of the project, is a significant reason for India declining to officially support the ‘Belt and Road’, which has been backed by most of India’s neighbours.

India has rebuffed Beijing’s requests to refer to the ‘Belt and Road’ in joint statements and declined official backing in the project. Initially, India’s official stand was that as the ‘Belt and Road’ was a domestic initiative of China’s, there was no need to back it as a national initiative.

That stand has since been somewhat toned down, with most of India’s neighbours, including Sri Lanka, Nepal and Southeast Asian countries backing the plan.

New Delhi has since said that it would cooperate with China where there was ‘synergy’ between the ‘Belt and Road’ and India’s own ‘Act East’ initiative.

Delhi has since emerged as the second biggest shareholder, after Beijing, in the China-backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), committing $ 8 billion, although the bank is expected to fund many ‘Belt and Road’ projects.

Why should that be a surprise?? India stand is that entire kashmir is our boundary so it's obvious we can do anything within our territory however not others, no?? China by engaging in P-O-K is only making India's current and future engagement in South China sea and other areas of her dispute easy...because when they are going to object(which they do) India will show them their own engagement in our areas of dispute...no??
who is india ???

:woot::woot:

It's our territory we would decide what should be done here... they are just making a Dam not Air base in Kohala .... will that dam hurt you?? NO

So please India should not start crying on everything

Look if you want to understand why India is complaining then you need to look it from India's perspective...I just explained that to you...of-course as per your stand Kashmir belongs to you and thus you don't see any issue with chinese activities...however that is not how we see it...make sense??

Do crying we dont care when u send water to flood pak u dont say a thing time has come to deal with u aggressively u listen this language

Kashmir dam will be made do what u can
If you done with your crazy talk then get one thing in your head....i am just explaining you the reason why India is complaining...these are geo-political games and are usually reciprocity in nature...

India merged entire Asia into their map no body give shit about India... the reality is J&K is "DISPUTED TERRITORY" where as "AJ&K" is part of Pakistan RECOGANIZED by every country which includes UNITED NATION. So India chaand seetaray ko bhi apnay map may daal lay no body care about what India and tatoo Indians think!
What?? who fed you all this?? educate yourself a bit before you open your mouth like that...i mean seriously...given how both sides parrot word Kashmir i was under the impression that even parrots would know the correct status of atleast this dispute....there are two terms Pakistan Administered Kashmir and Indian Administered kashmir...period..

It make sense but crying on Every project that we Start with Chinese in Our Kashmir or Gilgit Balitistan doesn't....

now you are contradicting your own line....so as per you it makes sense on one or two projects but not rest?? This is not how it works man...for example...Pakistan always want a third party intervention in resolving kashmir...and respectfully told that it is being looked as conflict b/w India and Pakistan and needs to be resolved bilaterally...however still she keeps on calling for international mediation...this is how geo-politics work...if you stop making your point then you loose from whatever position you are in at that conflict...simple...

Obviously I would have been surprised if Chinese journo had spoken in correct English grammatical fashion.
English is not an official language in China but is official language in India. Thus it's perfectly normal for the Chinese journalist to speak imperfect English.

Never mind. I was trolling the troll.

China is playing a very short-sighted game by getting itself involved in Indo-Pak disputes. This is only going to come back to hurt them in the long term, Delhi has a very long memory.

I just want to say to all indians in this thread that no one cares about opinion of indians on our side of border. So when we say dam is getting built then that means it will be built. No one will be able to stop it as evident by this news report. If still people want to comment any further then i pitty those people.
