Weren't India government and Indian prime minister declared 20 yrs ago India would become a superpower in span of 10 to 20 yrs, that statement didn't ring true from the day was made and I don't know how long into the future India will be a superpower and will be marvel by the world.

Politicians do aspire and give statements nothing wrong with that, at least India is moving in that direction. And things will pick up pace in this decade.

20 yrs wasted and nothing to show for, what next 20 yrs will do India any good?

Any idea if Diego Garcia is used for strategic purpose? or Is it still strategically important? Sometimes back I heard that US is going to hand it over to India for maintenance as it is not required by them any more. But now with diplomatic spat, it is not possible!!

@Abingdonboy

Diego Garcia is British.

Lol Indian wants to rule Diego Garcia with your 1960s vintage carrier battle group?, I will leave American's honor to brag about their navy in this region :usflag:. The reason that Indian navy didn't get U.S attention, it's that your Navy is just a worthless joke.

As for influence in S. Asia or IOR, China has out performed India for so many years, the only nation left to cozy with India is Bhutan...and there is again India was making desparately attempt to prevent Bhutan to be friend with China by cutting their cooking oils and gaz...what a bad loser:laughcry:. As for geopolitical game you're not even qualify to play the chess game other than just a spectator...LMAO. And yes China is a joke for eat indian's lunch with trade surplus and undo Indian's influence in Indian ocean...still want more humiliation?

Diego Garcia is British.

Past is past , present and future is in hands.

India present moment is hopeless what can future bring that will transform India? India in 20 yrs of economic reform but still in a shit hole after 20 yrs. Optimistic is good but over optimistic without facing the the ground reality is foolish.

No, this was never actually on the table. This was just PROPOSED by some article last year. The US has no intention of handing over that base to ANYONE, they are sticking around in the IOR, of that have no doubt. And this recent spat is only going to affect diplomatic ties on a minimal level everything else will remain unharmed especially military interests.

The USA will never give up its basing rights on Diego Garcia, it is instrumental to their "Asia-Pacific Pivot" and to project naval power in the region.

Furthermore Britain will not give basing rights to India. As Britain needs the American funding to keep Diego Garcia operational... otherwise Britain will lose her power projection East of Suez.

Nothing is over optimistic related to India!!!

man evey thing is hopeless and every thing is hopeful , it's how you wanna look at things. a glass which is half empty or glass which is half full..choice is yours..:agree:

when I see this same Map,I ROFL.China don't have any offshore base and most probably will not get one within decades.and placing an offshore base within deep enemy region, really???plus,we dominate choke points of IOR(entering into IOR bypassing Malacca Strait don't count.cause thats so lame and you'll have to take the road next to US bases.and thats why there are talks about "IRON CURTAIN" to counter String of Pearls.but one thing is true.USA is leaving Diego Garcia, leaving us another good opertunity to dominate the region with further expansion.but I wonder why they don't count US bases around Malacca Strait and north of Australia.

as for China's expansion, even Japan have enough "Helicopter Destroyer" which can be converted for AC's role using F-35 that can be enough to counter China's threat.China's bad luck is some of its rivals are too powerful to conquer.as for controlling entire IOR,even Japan with its Fleet of Carriers and USA with some 151 plus carriers(counting Escort Carrier) during WW II(never again we'll see that kind of force) failed to control entire IOR.so,what I can say is its a wet dream.

The British dominated the Indian Ocean for over 200 years, the Americans have dominated it since WW2. In the future, China will dominate the Indian Ocean.

India will dominate nothing... except their dreams

Either choice you look at the glass still only half full that the reality.

Either choice you look at the glass still only half full that the reality.
Again.. even if glass is half full and is reality.. you will either whine over it all day or just drink and go to your bed and sleep...:)
Go, get some sleep....
