China eyes military base on Africa's Atlantic coast: report

While their leader seems like a despot, the following piece from An Australian channel makes it seem like the world should take notice because of their rapidly growing oil discoveries (non-opec, non-Muslim as the guy in the video puts it), this country should get special attention.

Venezuela would definitely make the most logical sense of a major base if the Chinese were building one.

But back onto Equatorial Guinea; a non-Muslim majority country. That part of Africa, is probably where the new Cold War will play out. Resources and influence and infrastructure projects. A lot of these countries in the southern half of Africa, in the early 20th century embraced Christianity partial from colonial powers, but a large part due to American missionaries, so the influence runs deep, and China will have to put in a lot of work if it hopes to have greater influence then the west.

People are forgetting Russia. As an ally of China, it can provide assistance, especially in Cuba and Venezuela, where it already has bases.

according to a report in The Wall Street Journal based on classified U.S. intelligence.
a militarily useful naval facility
I’m talking about a port

So all of this China threat rethoric and fearmongering written for Americas ignorant kept domestic audience ...
is based on rumors about literally just a port of which China has built hundreds
